As I stated before that since my car is not garage kept I covered them to keep the snow n ice out , what you don’t seem to understand is in reality it’s not more than a design for the car, how many high performance cars had hood vents before now (NONE) does the vents help with heat ventilation sure but not required!
The design does not cause water damage and is safely engineered. We have had 2' of snow this year and my DD stays out in the weather. I wash the vehicle as well without care of the vents and the water drains great without issues. I run it through the car wash too all the time. The 1st time last year I opened the hood and nothin, nada, drips from opening the hood, that was it.

Vegas1, understandable. But I wouldn't worry about open vents and let them work as designed. If they were a problem, Dodge/SRT wouldn't have sold thousands (hundreds of thousands) of SRT vehicles since 2014 maybe even earlier without a redesign.

I'll just leave this here. I'm more worried about tree crap falling on it. From nasty green yellow pollen to tree branches or even the whole tree falling on it. Snow and rain but so much. Driven from rain to freezing rain to blizzard. The entire front was glazed in ice. And the rear was covered in snow. The hood vents remained clear.

No cars had hood vents before now? My 2004 Cobra had hood vents. Cars have had hood vents for quite some time. That's not a new thing.

Mine isn't garage kept. I've never worried about the hood vents being an issue. If that's your thing, by all means cover them. But I think the majority would agree it isn't necessary.
As for your comment about hood vents, you can't be serious. You must be very young and not much experience with Chrysler performance cars. They have ALL had hood vents when equipped with the 2.2 or 2.5 Turbo. I've owned 2 of them. You should look stuff up before making blanket statements like that.

Well I’m a retired certified journeyman mechanic and it’s not a design that’s required because it has a big engine, it’s simply just a custom look, but at the same time it does extract some heat from the engine compartment, you need to think outside the box. Again it’s not a requirement! And as for covering up the vents is to each his own, I rather keep the snow and ice out from under the hood, I’ve seen pictures of a car with the hood vents open and snow all over the engine, why would you want that, I don’t. If big engine’s causes so much heat they would have thought of the vents yrs ago, that big V8 gets just as hot as any other engine no matter how long the car has been running or being in a state that produces extremely high temperature’s like (Nevada or Arizona). I take great pride and care for my car and plan to keep it that way for my own purpose, everyone else can do as they please it’s your car not mine. Honestly it’s just common sense. Enjoy your day 😎
