Tried it to see what difference it made. Definitely muted the whole driving experience. Upshifts sooner, downshifts later, super smooth, be great if grandma was in the passenger seat trying to drink her tea. Anyway, won’t be doing that again….
mine is a TNG but yes, I've had mine to ECO Off since I drove it back from the dealership.

it was technically in ECO mode on the 5 hr drive home from Atlanta but I spent so much time varying the RPMs for the break in that it was in ECO mode very little. been Off since then.

Personally, I love that fact that we can set the ECO button of Off and it stays that way.

I've had vehicles with ECO before, but on my DDSRT the vibration I could feel unnerved me, so I set up custom mode to turn off ECO. I used that mode every time I drove for the first couple of years, except on long trips where I wanted better mileage. I've slowly gotten used to it but can easily tell when it kicks in and I sometimes accelerate to get out of it.

If you turn ECO off it stays off, no need for custom mode. What you are referring to is 4cyl mode which operates in auto by default.

Yes, 4cyl mode, thought that was ECO mode, but I see that ECO mode changes transmission parameters too.

Eco seems “OK”… starts in 2nd gear and if you floor it it seems to eventually get the hint and takes off. I’ve seen it get in the teens for MPG during some testing which is pretty good considering. I doubt I would use it ever if it had cylinder deactivation or anything like that.

Since gas prices went up recently here in Toronto, I've used ECO mode in my 2018 DDSRT to get back and forth to my classroom. It appears to make the needle more stubborn in its downward path. I'm with you on the vibration and louder "BRUB, BRUB, BRUB!"

Conversely, on our Daytona we do not have issues with MDS. It works as it's supposed to when you hit a steady cruising speed only. There is no drop out, drop in going on and we get 26-7 mpg on the highway.with the Hemi.

Gotta agree with Tin Foil Hat on the MDS function. Was seamless on my Daytona as well from day 1. With only 1K miles, I hit the highway doing 70 - 75 mph most of the way down and back to FL, about 1/2 the time with A/C on and 3 people and a load of crap in the trunk and got 25 mpg.

As for the ECO mode - even on our '21 GT Plus with the 3.6, I wanted to like the ECO mode, but after a few days driving it brand new, between the throttle response delay, the granny up/down shift patterns, and overall dull feeling, it had me turn it Off, and Off it has stayed. Even my wife agreed. I actually think I WASTED more gas tromping heavily on the go pedal just to get it to move with it On. Whether in the V6 or Hemi, I can't imagine anyone other than a granny grocery getting using ECO. :ROFLMAO:

I know it’s a sacrifice to use it, and I only do on the expressway, but my 392 gets 20mpg when I use it.

On my Hemi(s), ECO = OFF and that is the way it should be. I do not trust the harmonics it causes when engaged on the Hemi (V6 does not have MDS) and engine parts grenade after a while.
I consider ECO off but Sport off = Eco for me :D

On the 21's sport is so bad ass and fun I tend to run it too much and get around 13MPG with my 5.7 LOL

On long interstate trips (with some city mixed in) in my DDSRT, I've averaged over 22MPG in 4cyl mode, and no ECO. Granted no mountains or bad headwinds.

I think the MDS works pretty good, doesn’t bother me tho I can tell it’s there. Getting better mileage than I was in my Ram 1500 with the 5.7 and a lot more fun with the loud pedal….

I have never heard of this being an issue. On the contrary, I've heard of the 5.7 as being a very reliable engine.
Where did you get your info from?
2011 6.4 engines and 5.7 engines were blowing up left and right at about 50k mileage. (I had a 2011 SRT8 Challenger and was very active on the forum then)
Timing chain tensioner would explode.
Not sure if it drifted into 2012 but does nto matter, I will not use it.

I doubt it was the harmonics that caused the tensioner to break. If it was, the recall wouldn't have been limited to just a couple years of the 5.7, as they've had the MDS on them since 05. I think it was a faulty part from a bad supplier.
