Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but I wouldn't say it's official yet. "motorious" could just be rumor driven click-bait...nothing official comes up from Stallantis (saying no more hemi). Mopar insiders says it's not dead yet. "While some publications are stating that the HEMI will be gone after 2023, our sources indicate that a HEMI engine will be available on the next-generation Challenger and Charger."

Also, I know for a fact that FCA will be Idling the Belvedere, IL. plant for 1 1/2 to 2 yrs starting in the spring of 2022. They turning it over to make an electric vehicle there.
The vehicle is presumed to be an SUV. I'm a Union electrician and will be bidding on the calls. About 150 will be needed for this shut down.

Those of us who have been around the block a time or two, know that nothing lasts forever. This generation of Hemi, has been around since 2003. Along with other things, the heightened concern for our planet, the push to move away from fossil fuel, and plain old politics all figure into this equation.

Chrysler Hemi engine - Wikipedia

Look at all of the manufacturers that have moved to turbo 2 liter power plants. I don't like it of course, having been born in the 60's. I recall the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's, but could not drive them, lol.

The Motorius site does provide some useful information now and then. The writer also seems to sensationalize things at times, and make up words. I don't recall the word "awfulness' being legit. He also likes to say that cars "wreck out."

The big engines we enjoy are going to eventually go away, but it won't be overnight. Much the same as the transition to solar and/or wind power, the need is too great for the current technology to support.

powerfreak, You did read that article and watch the video, didn't you? It is a very good read/watch and points to an EV muscle car.

It sure seems to me that the Hemi is done for. "Now while the GME-T6 will play an important role for the Challenger and Charger with its three different variants, the new turbocharged inline-six will ultimately replace the tired and true 5.7-liter HEMI V8 from the car’s lineup"

BUT, That being said, It may not be a bad thing, may be very GOOD in the end !!!!!!

No good ever came of getting rid of a v8. When the world started getting rid of v8’s the man bun and avocado toast started to take hold. Now look where we are. Avocado eating bitch biscuits enjoying the smell of their own farts while claiming they are saving the environment. South Park foretold this.

Sounds like a personal problem there guy.

I would love to see a smaller displacement Hemi but with dual/quad over head cams, Direct injection, phased/variable valving, phased/variable cam profiles.
Put some serious Italian engineering into it. It would be so awesome to have a 5L 20/25MPG 400HP Hemi.

Not a big surprise at all. Even before the acceleration of BEVs, and recent Dodge/Stellantis announcements, I've been telling my friends past couple years felt like we were living in the late 60s again, and past year or so been telling them like we are now in '70/'71 era. Swan song for the V8s, and ICE. So, with that said, Dodge should figure out a way to offer a limited number of vehicles maybe for '22 or '23 with a 1000HP S/C Hellcat engine (like the Hellcrate). Even if it means paying gas guzzler or other penalties, who cares. Limited number, and everything going BEV or Hybrid after that. Maybe call it the Hell Swan :ROFLMAO:

The folks that live in the true "West" will never drive electric vehicles. They'll be making their own fuels and shooting all the robots coming down their lanes to try to get their archaic fossil fuel-burning heathen-mobiles. That's where I'll be. Unfortunately I'm not there yet. Working on it, believe me.

And just think about places like Cuba that are still driving 70's and 80's cars/trucks.......

The electric phasing has begun.....long ago actually. Some will jump at the opportunity. Others will resist it 100%. I'll be in the latter group.

I just heard the official news a couple of days ago, [even though it was speculated for a while now, it still sad]

Hemi will be done for in 2023 !

Hemi Canceled
Hardly believe that they will get rid of the 5.7L. This is the workhorse for the 1/2 ton pickups....

Yep, it has been.....and served it's purpose very well. But when all the carbon-neutrals get a firm hold on everything, you'll see an electric motor with twice the torque replacing it. I don't like it any more than you do, but it's coming.

Sad to see it go but it hasn't been updated since 2009. Definitely go down in history as one of the best engines Chrysler ever made. A turbocharged V6 might make more horsepower but nothing beats the sound of a V8. I just hope four-cylinder turbo engines are not the de facto engine now. I'll take naturally aspirated any day.

My kids children will all be flying around in vehicles from place to place. Welcome to the Jetson's.
