So I bought a set of Z26 pads. Z26-1405 for the fronts, and Z26-1053 for the rears. Front right was first.....old pads came out no problem, new pads slipped in....but then I couldn't get the lower pin back in. The hole in the pad did not line up with the hole in the caliper. The pad needed to go in about another millimeter, but it was a hard stop. I had to put the pin in at an angle to get it into the hole for the inner caliper but then it would not have lined up with the other caliper. I tried and tried...inserted and reinserted the pad......no joy. Tried all 4 pads (they are all the same in the kit); same problem. Put the old pads back in with no drama, and put everything away. Didn't bother with the other wheels....

Anybody else run into a similar problem? Very unhappy right now......

EDIT/UPDATE: Powerstop customer service is awesome; see post #6. I need to try to update the title of this thread from "Epic fail?" to "Epic Success."

Loads of guys swapping these out on the Hellcat forum with no issues, I'd call PowerStop & see what they had to say.

I've have been hearing the same on the Charger forums, and will probably change out my super dusty Brembos on my Daytona 392 to these pads as well. I bet they just sent the wrong pads out, as I've heard nothing but great things from this company.

I've put Z 23's on two SRT Grand Cherokees and my current DD SRT, all because of the OEM pad dust. On every one I had to break the little wear indicator off to get the lower pin in. It was hitting the hat section of the rotor. Might be your issue.

I have the Z26 on both my SRTs and have not had issue with pad fitment. But the Powerstop hardware kit for the rears on both cars does not match OEM, and they are aware of it (because I at least have taken detailed photographs and sent them to them) but have not addressed it that I am aware of.

On the Hellcat, the new pins are a smidge too short. On the Durango, the new pins are a mile too short, and the spring clip is not right - had to reinstall the OE Brembo rear hardware on both cars. Not a huge deal, but they need to supply the right hardware.

UPDATE: I am going to change the title of this thread to "Epic Success." I called Powerstop on monday, spoke to a human, who said that the tech support guy was out but that he would call me back. Not believing in callbacks, I also sent them an e-mail describing the issue. Within an hour I got a reply apologizing for the issue, and saying that they would look into it. The next day (yesterday) I got an e-mail saying that they have identified a fitment issue, and that they would send me a new set of pads with the wear sensors removed.

They OVERNIGHTED them to me; they came today; 2 pads with wear sensors, and 2 pads without. Just like the factory. They fit perfectly. Just got back from the burnishing run. Very happy. Installed the rears, too....no issue. Powerstop RULES.

Great news! They do have pretty responsive customer service compared to other suppliers I deal with. Did they happen to say anything about the rear hardware issues?

You MIGHT be able to edit the thread title to reflect success.. I'm not sure..
Yeah....I can't seem to change the title. Sorry, Powerstop....

I didn't raise the issue with the rears so they didn't say anything about it. When I did the rears, I noted that the pins and the clips in the package did not look at all like the factory pieces, but I had no intention of using the Powerstop hardware based on the comments here and the other installation comments that I found.

Z23 and Z26 have the same exact pad compound. Z23 backing plates are rubber coated for noise reduction whereas the z26 are metal for better heat dissipation.

The factory brembo pads are more aggressive pad material, thus the extreme dusting. There is a trade off in stopping power in extreme conditions, however if you’re not tracking your vehicle you won’t notice it. I switched to Z26 on my Hellcat Charger and have never regretted the change.

Pull the inner wear tabs off with a pair of pliers before installing the z23/z26 on the Durango. The factory shims for the rear wouldn’t fit either so I just left them off. Used a little scotchbrite to clean off the rear pins before lubing and reusing.

I know brake dust is a problem but idk shot aftermarket pads? Is the stopping distance the same?

I'd be afraid with this 5700lb monster.

Let us know what you think

Stopping distance comes from the caliper design more than the pads type. Pad Type attributes to durability under repeated/consistent use. Also Track pads are designed to operate at higher temps for longer periods. Street pads are lower temps and tend to fade when they get hot. On the flip side Track pads don't always heat up to be efficient on street driving, so choose your pads correctly. Going with nearly any ceramic pad will have dust issues, Semi-metallic or metallic pads will have less dust and be fine as long as you get a top tier brand.

Disclaimer: I just tossed on some Duralast max brake pads on to test them out for a a few thousand miles and brake dust is light and the pad feels ok. But I will be moving to EBC Greens with new rotors soon.

I leave this here as it's always made me laugh:

I bought a set of PS Z26, but the front serial is different, I bought the Z26-6006, and Z26-1053B rear. I have a 2021 Durango RT TowNGo, big brembo brakes, I think those are the same in Durango Hellcat. For which car did you buy the Z26-1405?

I hate how badly the Brembos dust, but when my 2022 DDSRT arrives, I'm just going to live with the dust. I had a Professional Brake Mechanic install Power Stop Z23's on my last two Jeep GC SRT's. They worked great....very little dusting and extremely quiet, but after 1000 to 1200 miles, both vehicles starting squealing....A LOT. Was very embarrassing everytime I had to stop and endure the loud squealing noise. Don't keep my vehicles very long, so I sold both of them with the PS's still installed. I remember calling PS. They were very professional, but did acknowledge that some of the GC SRT's had the squealing issue, but said there wasn't anything they could do about it. I'm retired now, so I plan on keeping the new DDSRT for a few years and don't want to risk the squealing issue again. Instead, I'll be spending a lot of time with my wheel woolies and microfiber towels to keep the wheels clean!!

You might didn’t apply the anti-seize? I installed the Z23 on my Lexus and that was day And night. I hate to clean my wheels. Too many times could scratch them. I will save the OEM Brembo pads, just in case. 😉

I had the same issue but I bought the Z26-6006 front for my 2021 Durango RT Tow and Go. I thought that those pads are the same as Durango Hellcat, but it doesnt fit. Any suggestion on which part number uses the Tow And Go?

Brembo OEM left, Z26 6006 Right

I looked the Z26-1405, and they look more than the Brembo OEM. Also, when I bought the rear ones, Z26-1053B notice those have a B at the end, is that fine or I just need the Z26-1053 without B?
Thanks
