Hey guys and gals...
As you may already know, I picked up a 2021 Durango R/T with the Tow 'N Go package back in April. It replaced my 2018 R/T with towing package. I've got 3750 miles on the new truck as of today. I suspect this thing has a problem, and I'm hoping to collect some data from you guys. Basically, I think my truck is down on power - pretty significantly. It just doesn't seem anywhere near as powerful as my old truck did. Here are some symptoms:
Thanks in advance...
- The exhaust smells a little rich to me, and I get lift-off backfires from time to time. This is well beyond the usual brrrrraaaappp when changing gears under hard acceleration. I'm talking about legit backfires - loud pops and bangs. I noticed today that it even happens while sitting still if I put it in neutral and blip the throttle just a little.
- Speaking of idle... my idle seems high and rough. This truck seems to idle around 900 rpm instead of the 600-700 of my old truck. Even with the high RPM, there are times when I think it's about to stall, but it never actually has.
- Gas mileage is terrible (even for a HEMI), and the dash computer is waaaaay off.. I check it on every fill up and sometimes it's high, sometimes it's low. I've seen it 5mpg low, and 3-4 mpg high over an entire tank.
- My 0-60 times aren't what I think they should be either. I'm regularly in the 7's.. sometimes high 7 seconds... eesh. When pushing on it, I feel like the motor just spins and doesn't really pull sometimes. I haven't noticed anything that feels like transmission slip either.
- The final straw was playing around on the highway with my performance pages this week. I cannot get it to show more than 220 hp on the line graph or the circles chart. Wide open throttle just won't go any higher. At first I figured it might be showing drive train loss. But the chart goes all the way to 370 hp and 400 lbs-ft torque, which would make sense on a truck that is spec'd for 360 and 390 respectively.
Thanks in advance...
