22x9.5 on 21 Durango GT Plus AWD

Hi all,

My wife and I just recently purchased a 21 DD GT Plus AWD and she insisted that we needed black rims. We thought about going with some OEM SRT or Hellcat wheels but the price was just a little high for our liking. I did lots of research and i kept seeing people use 22x10 or 22x10.5 with +30 or +35 offset. During all my research i came to understand that the higher the +offset the more the wheel tucks into the wheel well.

With that knowledge and knowing that i am adding 1.5 inches to the wheels and stock offset is +56.4 i ordered a set of K9 6198 wheels in 22x9.5 +50 for our DD. Problem is they have too much poke. I will admit i had a difficult time seeing any pictures of rims on a 21. majority that i saw was on a 19 or below.

I know subtle changes were made for the 20-22 years i believe so would that explain why the fit of my wheels is different? sorry if the pictures dont show the poke accurately. it was hard to get the right angle.

Nevermind, i realized my mistake. When i was ordering the wheels it sound like the guy was saying +50 offset but as i am looking at my paperwork it is a +15 offset. That explains why they fit the way they do.

Decision time now. Wife likes it and i haven't told her how i feel about them. Do i keep it to myself or try and return them and keep looking?

personally I don't like the look....I would get the higher offset......but make sure when the vehicle is on the ground you have clearance with suspension with those wider wheels..what tire size do you have?

Doesn't look too bad....if your wife is going to be driving it most of the time, and she likes 'em, I say leave well enough alone (as long as she's not just saying she likes them because she thinks you like them, but that might be jumping down a rabbit-hole of trying to understand wife psychology). But if it's an easy return process and you'll be driving it too, I say find ones that you like better.

Im not a fan of the poke. I tried to convince her to get some of the srt or hellcat replicas but she doesn't like the patterns and insist on trying to see a wheel in person before buying. She prefers the simple designs over the intricate ones. Extremely picky when it comes to stuff like that.

Yeah this is her daily so im leaning on the side of if she is happy then im gonna keep my mouth shut..... Im going to most likely leave it alone and keep looking for something else and maybe i can convince her to maybe spend some more money down the line.....

Personally, I absolutely cannot stand wheels that stick out, to me it makes it obvious the wheels were not designed for the vehicle and is out of place, but that's personal preference.

More practically, I would suggest convincing her to try something else simply because that level of poke-out will send gravel and stones all over the sides of the car and chip the paint. The car will age 20 years in the first year. If I were in your shoes I'd be telling my other half that I'm very concerned about thousands of chips from the tires sticking out. I think I remember something about early Hellcats having that problem on the rear wheel flares (larger than SRT and R/T) from the larger wheels and tires, and yours are sticking out a lot more than that.

That is a good point. I too do not like the poke at all. Unfortunately i am unable to return them since they have been mounted and balanced. I could always try to sell them to recoup but that will be a process.

I have a 2021 RT TNG with 22x10 offset of +35. They fit perfect and don't stick out at all. I don't have any pictures of it at ride height, just all the way laid out.
I can take a couple pictures when I get home today so you can see how it sit's at ride height. I would make sure that you got what you ordered, because there is no way a 9.5" rims with a +50 offset should sit like that. If those are the correct rims, then by the specs mine should sit waaay further out being that they are 22x10 and I am running 285/35/22 tires.
Let me know if you would like to see the pictures at ride height.

Sorry, I didn't read every post in the thread, just did. Hahahahah.
The +15 explains it. But either way let me know if you want pictures at rise height (y)

No problem! Here you go. This is at my high ride height setting, which is right about stock, maybe a little lower.

I thought they were going to sit out too far, which I would not have been ok with, but they are just about right. I would make sure to not go any more than +35 or any wider than 10".
