Lift gate fails when it hits rubber weather tech mat or any thin material in the corners. It should reverse itself. Instead it looks like it shut and but it’s really opened. We are able to duplicate over and over. Yet on the loaner a Jeep Grand Cherokee L it’s no problem. It will latch right on top or if it’s really too far out, gate goes right back up. Service said they believe this is normal for it to just stall. I say it bs! It appears to lack strength to force it closed or the sensor isn’t working properly. Looking for help here. FCA said what do you want us to do! Unbelievable, vehicle is less than 30 days old. Along with so many UConnect issues.

I would take it to a different dealer. I agree that the lift gate should be fully latched for a multitude of reasons.

Why did you test on a Jeep instead of another Durango with a power lift gate? That is what I would do and odds are, your lift gate has issues.

We tested on a brand new Jeep because that was the loaner at our house. The salesman brought our Durango back home from an hour away, as he lives in the same town. They never tested it at the dealership on other vehicles. Wouldn’t this of made sense. I was told it’s operating as designed by service rep. Hope this clarifies.
