There are plenty of reports with the Valvoline Mutli Vehicle working quite well.
I've read the same...but none of those owners or reports show long term durability..as in having driven 100K miles with it without issue..until that happens I wouldn't consider it. It could be that just adding a few qts of the Valvoline is OK and still mixes well...still...and I'm a Valvoline fan.

I agree as far as a longevity stand point goes. This or any non oem fluid might last 100,000 miles like the oem fluid can, it might not. But knowing what I know now about ZFs recommended interval change I'm not going to go as far as I did this time anyways. Especially with my driving habits ;D. Not to mention I have a TCM tune. The shifts are a bit more aggressive than before the tune.

After I finish the change out, it'll be quite some time before I add 50,000 miles to what I have now (be around 77k by the time I get to it). I don't have to commute very far anymore.
That a when I plan on doing it again.

So as a follow-up, I looked at the specs of ZF Lifeguard 8 vs Valvoline Multivehicle ATF and they are very close. Actually the Valvoline has a slightly higher VI # (Viscosity Index where higher is better).. and the pour point is very close too -42*C vs <-42*C for Valvoline.
I think Valvoline Multivehicle ATF will perform fine in the ZF trans....though the oil should turn yellow adding red to green.

Another interesting note on ZFs data is it say it's a semi-synthetic.
