Interior dash lights/buttons sensor

So when it’s getting dark the headlights turn on automatically. I’ve noticed that there are times when the headlights turn on but the radio and climate buttons aren’t lit up yet. Are the headlights and interior lights controlled with different sensors?

I hope you haven't been waiting 3 1/2 years for an answer... ;)

If the headlights come on - when they are set to auto - because it is getting dark, the dash and other interior lights will also come on. If the headlights come on because you have the wipers on (and it is not otherwise dark out) the interior lights don't come on. In fact, I've had the headlights come on with the wipers (the headlight indicator is illuminated on the dash) then it starts to get dark and the panel lights come on. It's easy for me to tell, since I usually keep them turned down low, and the EVIC screen dims.

Nah lol.
So my thing is that my headlights are set to auto. They come up when is dark outside. Like today in nyc i got really cloudy at 4pm. My lights ccame on allgo. My issue is the radio, climate buttos you where the hazards light button is. That while strip of buttons the backlight dont come up until is really dark(night) outside. It is hard for me to see which button i want to press while driving when the backlight is not on. How do i manually turn those button backlight on?

By rolling your dimmer switch up until it clicks and then they are forced on.

On my '21, i figured out that there's 2 step on the auto light. Once it get dark but still some sun light, the headlight and exterior lights comes up. Once it get darker like at night, the headlight exterior light and cluster dim+control button light comes up. So the AUTO features does have kind of 2 beahvior depending on the % of darkness outside. I don't know if I explain it clear, sorry for my english!

Yes. But it is kinda hard to see which buttons to press under the radio display when it gets a bit dark out i also have very dark tints .
