I just ordered my RT today. I noticed on the build sheet it has a code of priority. Though I'm curious from the time you ordered what is your time frame or how long have you waited. Thanks

Thank you! I'm curious due to the chip shortage. I am locked in for the rebates now and they said any other rebates that come in before it's delivered will also be applied. So the way it's looking, it may be June before I get it.

Ordered a new R/T tow n go also, 3 weeks ago. Dealer told me 6-10 weeks. My lease is up 5/31 on a GT blacktop and can't wait for my new one...
You should probably be prepared to extend your lease at least a month. I did, and I had already requested an extension for a second month when my order showed up. If you're leasing thru Chrysler Capital, they can do it over the phone. You just need to provide the new order VIN/VON so they can justify the extension. They might ask you for an estimated delivery date on the new vehicle. But I told them DODGE wasn't giving any ETAs and they let me do it one month extension at a time. You end up paying the same amount per month as you are now, and it runs your lease buy out price down as well. So really it's a zero pain solution while you are waiting for your new ride. I would probably call Chrysler Capital about it 2 weeks before your current end of term.

Jefferson North shut down completely in April. There's major retooling happening. It's just for a month. I believe this is associated with the Grand Cherokee changes. But all I know fersure is that they're shut down. This is affecting Durangos and legacy style Grand Cherokees. It does not affect the new Grand Cherokee L.

As for "priority"... That designation is applied to customer orders when you configure a specific vehicle, versus the more general orders that are made by dealerships and fleets, not for any particular customer.

So, Dealership A knows it wants a half dozen Durangos on the lot for May. They'll order up an assortment of trims/colors/options that they believe they can best sell in their market area. Those get built on a non-priority basis behind a vehicle that you order from the dealership rather than buy off of their lot.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that delivery date. That would end up being less than a month between order and delivery. Mine took a full month just to get built, but then sat in inspection status for 35 days. After an email to the CEO, it finally started moving again, but still took another 3 weeks to be shipped and delivered. My actual delivery took place 3 days shy of 3 full months... that's 1 month and 6 days longer than the first ETA I was given. On top of that, Stellantis just announced JNAP is being hit with 2/3 shift reductions for the next 3 weeks. Even if yours was to get built as fast as mine did, and avoid inspection purgatory, you'd still miss your delivery date, and that doesn't even count transport and delivery times, which could be anywhere from 2 weeks to a month depending on what part of the country you're in.

Keep in mind that build date can be as quick as two weeks after the order is booked. I ordered my TnG on January 31. The build date was February 14. I asked my buddy (who works at JNAP) if that was a special courtesy to me because I'm his friend. He confessed it was not. It was because they knew April meant shutdown and they wanted to get all "priority builds" turned out before April. So fleet models and dealer builds were de-prioritized.

Even so... It took another month for my car to reach the dealership. Yet, shipment can take up to eight weeks, as did my 2019 R/T. They accumulate enough cars to fill a trainload where "trainload" means a train going to one major region of the country. For example: All Grand Cherokees and Durangos heading to the eastern seaboard north will all be put onto a single train bound for Baltimore. There, the rake of auto-carriers is split into destination-specific trains. Vehicles destined for the New York Metropolitan area will go to Paramus, NJ. In Paramus, they sit in a gigantic lot, awaiting trucks for the final leg to the individual dealerships. But that stay in Paramus can potentially suffer long delays. Each step includes inherent latency. It can all add up.

I'll mention one more potential for delay. It's rare. But it happens enough at JNAP that much has been made of it.

Sometimes your order can be made and then it needs to be remade. Again, this is rare. But, it happens.

Jefferson North has suffered multiple instances of theft in recent years. This has happened so often that it's made local TV news coverage and they've adjusted parking protocols to position fleet vehicles and the cheaper trims towards the perimeter of the holding lot so that (if stolen), those are the vehicles lost to theft... not the more expensive trims which are protected (like baby elephants) in the middle of the herd, blocked in by "expendable" Durango SXT and Grand Cherokee Laredo trims. This was in response to six SRTs being swiped in 2018.

So there is a minute-but-non-zero chance that your particular build gets made and gets parked, awaiting shipment... But before it reaches the safety of a freight car, your Durango is driven off the lot through the chain-link fence. When that happens, your Durango needs to be re-built. Of course, that's only after they figure out which ones are no longer on the lot.
