So my challenge will be do I pay through the nose to make some vintage style dog dish caps that will snap onto a modern rim or do I spend a little more to have tooling made to make them by the thousands
I always see a lot of roadside hubcap stands while traveling cross country. Could probably find some there also.

I say neither, just use the Charger cap, its close enough.
The police Charger caps won't fit as they snap onto the lug nuts. The Charger & Challenger have a 5X115mm bolt pattern. The Durango is 5X127mm. I could use the stock Durango police hubcap, but I like the look of the older style a lot better.

The vintage caps are 9" OD and snapped onto bosses stamped into the rim. The modern rims don't have a feature like this, so a new cap that looks like the old one that is compatible with modern rims will have to snap onto the lug nuts.

So the plot thickens. I checked today and see a new steel wheel part number listed for the 2021 Durango Pursuit, but it shows as discontinued. p/n 6ZW73DX8AB. A google search for this p/n gets only one hit on a data aggregation site. I will keep an eye out to see if this is actually the newly added wheel we are looking for and they are showing it as discontinued until it is actually available. It does not show up when I search wheels for 2020- Durango models. Hmmm...

My guess is that they just entered the new part number into their system but it’s not actually available yet, so it shows as discontinued. This most likely will be the correct part number. We’ll just have to keep an eye out for when it comes available.

So does this mean the 2021 has a different bolt pattern, or something else that makes it only applicable to that year?
The mopar site shows the same rims that fit older models as applicable to the 2021 MY, so I don't think there's a bolt pattern change. I think parts are listed that way so that you filter by what was available on your particular model/year/trim. Otherwise the list of parts would be VERY long.

I just messaged this p/n to the parts guy at my local dealer who I had looking for it a few months back. He was intrigued by the idea. I'll let you know if/when/what I hear back.

I looked under wheel covers and center caps on a local dealer’s website and found these. Looks like the proper hub cover for the new police wheels.
Score! That confirms the 'discontinued' designation being only temporary as the new items are added. Excellent work, detective!

Looks like they updated the image for the 18" police steel wheel. Progress!

So the police rim p/n is: 6ZW73DX8AB
And the police center cap p/n is: 6ZQ88SZ0AA

Once they become available I'll talk to the parts guy at my dealer to see which TPMS module is compatible with this rim and will update with that info here. I see two different ones listed (rubber valve stem and rigid steel valve stem).
