Just take it to a trusted mechanic. There's no reason to expect a dealer to replace one at 200K for any reason.

My water pump is out on my 2017 R/T.. 44,000 m8les . I drive alot of highway..found a warranty letter from 2 years ago.. My warranty was Extended 7 years/ Unlimited Miles fir my Water Pump.. it was for some 2016/2017 models. I purchased mine dec 2016.. offered me a rental car. backordered Now, could be WEEKS but FREE.

Hi Trisha:
Welcome to DDN. You are in good shape in two ways. First off, your 5 year 60K powertrain warranty would cover the replacement of your water pump. Then, the warranty extension letter you mention would also cover it if you had already crossed over the 60,000 mile mark.

You can ask them to install the oem 6.4L water pump, or an aftermarket 5.7L pump to get you back on the road. This has already been done by a number of dealers who understand what REAL customer service is. I would call corporate customer service, and request that they authorize the dealer to do this.

2019 Dodge Durango RT with 15,900 miles. Water pump failed yesterday, and local dealer says the water pump is on backorder. I was thinking it was a loose hose but it was a total pump failure. The improper block honing theory is disturbing considering how little intolerance our cars have these days. Will update here when it's fixed. No word on loaner/rental replacement either even though we have the Mopar warranty.

2017 Durango R/T w/60,614 miles and mfg in March 2017... has the water pump bearing noise and the pulley moves side to side. Dealer confirmed water pump is bad, FCA will not warranty... 614 miles over 60K and recall limited to vehicles mfg on or before December 24, 2016. Accountants run a tight ship... and offer no good will.

Well, I'd call that a crock of sh*t! The good thing, is that the pump is not expensive, and pretty easy to DIY. Have you called the customer assistance hotline, or is this the dealer and their nonsense?

I have an active ticket with FCA customer assistance that was originally denied and now has been elevated. Don't have much hope however that they will change their position. Dealer has been cordial.

I can't believe they won't goodwill it being that close to the 60k mark. In addition, they are covering a buttload of them all the way back to '13! We have seen here, that the new WP vender still has room for improvement, as the WP failures have continued, albeit at a lower percentage, well beyond the cutoff for the warranty extension on them.

The 2nd pump that has been in my truck is about ready to take another shit right now. It started to trickle coolant last week and has stopped again for now, but it's only a matter of time. You'd think after they have replaced a billion of these things that they'd attempt to engineer one that would last a bit longer.

That plus the racetrack light, etc. I will say that the engineering that Daimler put into my Charger seems to be lightyears ahead of what Dodge is doing now. Of course, the body stuff is all Dodge.

First time posting but just curious if anyone else had an early water pump failure on their Durango w/Hemi?
I'm at 55,000 miles on my '13' R/T and was pretty shocked to have this go so early.
Did a key word search but no results so I'm guessing this is a freak failure?
My 2016 R/T just rolled 57k and the water pump went bad. I thought the same thing, that’s pretty low miles for that thing to go bad.

You're over what? You will get rid of your car because of one water pump failure?

MS:
Tell them you want it back on the road, asap. They can install the 6.4L WP, and it will bolt right up. Or, they can install an aftermarket 5.7L WP like NAPA, to get you going. Both of these have been done by some of the better dealers, who understand what customer service is.
