Kind of wierd to buy a vehicle just because of it's exhaust sound. That's a lot of money to spend on a vehicle with ton's of design, performance, handling, safety and comfort features only because it sounds good.

funny i just wrote the same thing in my thread on the main page... about the borla I just installed on my r/t. while my son's rt is way too loud, this borla S is a nice tone and at high rpms under load it sounds good... and it does have ZERO drone but it needs to be turned up a notch or two... guess there is no happy medium of not too loud or too much drone, and too quiet. I have both extremes now... when I unload this I'll be getting another scat pack, it's the best sounding exhaust period even stock. I had 4 of them and now I remember why.
My installer is now telling me he thinks there is a rez in front of the muffler. so I took a look and I don’t see one, unless it’s in the straight pipe between the cats and the muffler. If that’s the case it doesn’t look like one. Funny that Corsa doesn’t show that part on their sales page. Funnier that they offer a rez delete. Ill be back in the shop tomorrow to verify. If it turns out that pipe is a resonator, looks like I’ll be buying a delete and hoping I finally get what I paid for.

no, not hardly. I have owned 4 scat packs, 3 were chargers and 1 was a wb challenger. not just for sound. just making a point, I was hoping to get the DD to sound like that using the scat pack as a reference of what perfect sound is, in my opinion. my chargers were fantastic, they were not bought just found sound lol.... many factors that include, performance, looks, comfort, and price are also reasons and hard to beat the scat pack in those categories. not to mention, through over 100k of driving not one single problem on them.

I did not chose this Durango, I took it because of the deal that was offered to me... but at 3400 miles I'm already ready to go back... this time to a WB charger, and that will happen... just not sure when

A resonator/ muffler delete will do the trick; however, more than likely you will have some amount of drone. I did it to my Corsa on the Durango. Sounds great now, but there's definitely drone at certain ranges. After a while you kinda get used to it.

What does that mean exactly? You installed a corsa cat back and then removed the mufflers? I don’t know but my Borla looks like it’s straight pipe all the way until the back mufflers. I don’t see a resonator unless it’s built in somewhere? It does do a good job of no drone at all but i think I’m starting learn that for it to have some volume it might have a little drone lol.

Ok so this has gotten weird. I confirmed that the Corsa Sport catbak I bought and had installed does NOT have the resonator upstream of the muffler. So it’s a straight pipe system with the sport muffler, and I find it’s not loud enough. This system has zero drone. But if I want it louder my choices are limited because there’s no resonator to delete. I’m now looking at swapping the muffler for a Borla Atak or maybe a Corsa Extreme. Shame to have to go through this to get the sound I want.

Yup! It wasn't loud enough for my taste, so I emailed Corsa and they said removing the muffler is the only way to make it louder since they don't sell a standalone muffler (Corsa Extreme ). The Corsa, however does have resonators after the cats, I looked at the Borla and saw that it didn't. I still have the front resonators, but not the rear muffler anymore. Aka an expensive set of stainless steel resonators, x-pipe, and straight pipe. Might throw the mufflers back on if I ever get headers put on. And I think you're spot on about the volume and drone lol

I think I'm in the boat with you but with the Borla... same problem and same no resonators to remove... but are you saying I could just swap the borla muffler for the borla Atak? yes, it ashamed to pay for a cat back only to then have to change the only mufflers on there, and what if then it's obnoxious with drone LOL....

this is what I'm afraid of... just worried that I'll be taking a system designed the way it is and chopping it up... but then again, I've done that on others with OEM like my son's so I guess what's the difference lol

This is a question for your installer. I’m worried that I won’t be able to swap to a louder muffler based on the way the two pipes leave my current muffler. a new one would have to match that configuration exactly or my installer would have to custom fit it. And that’s even more money. We are looking into it.

Keep me posted. I’m going to ask my installer and maybe Borla as well to see if either has an idea. I assume any exhaust shop can cut off the mufflers and install any muffler we want and just weld it in, bigger question is which one and what will that do to the sound lol.

Was thinking, would a cold air intake help add some cabin sound? Any of you have installed one? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts

Mine is stock. I’ve considered putting in the Corsa oil-free closed box system. There’s an install video on YT where the guy measures before and after decibels, by 41Waterfowl or something like that. I’ll probably do something with that eventually.

If ya’ll want something louder than a Corsa sport catback with the resonators deleted after the cats or the Borla Type S just get the Borla Atak catback made for the DDSRT. You will have to have an adapter between your stock midpipe and the Atak as there will be a difference in pipe width according to my research.

Interesting ... wonder if I can just swap for the atak mufflers or are they the same mufflers with just bigger pipes?

There is a .25” difference in diameter.

Yes I see that but for just mufflers that shouldn’t matter? Can’t They can just weld it in there with a. Small connector to go up .25”?

I’m sure they can.

I’m going to look into it. If it can be done on my Borla than I’m sure it would be the same on the corsa. I just hate to chance anything cutting up an expensive system lol
