If it's not coming from a hose,, but a piece that is hard attached to the rack, replace the rack.

Looks like new hoses are $15-30 ea and a Re manufactured steering rack is around $170-200. Seems reasonable for that age Durango. That's aftermarket from an auto parts store like Advance Auto Parts, etc.

Going OEM from the dealer would be way more!!

I had to replace the rack on my 2005. It was $200 after core and I now have a lifetime warranty. For that price, its hardly worth trying to rebuild it yourself.

If you plan to keep the car, I would definitely replace it, but make sure you check the warranty. The same part can have different warranties depending on which franchise you buy from. If they fit, keep the boots for spares. On my OEM that I took out, boots were not available; even in the catalog of universal parts. The aftermarket rack is smaller, but it handles much better. The old one was replaced because it had too much play in the steering and it developed a leak about where yours is. Not even the dealer sells replacement boots, so I am going to list them on ebay. When I tore mine, I would have gladly paid $20-30 for a boot to avoid going to the pick it salvage yard.

This thread is almost 2 years old. Did you notice that? I'm sure that rack is not still leaking now.
