Welcome to the forum!

I don't know if this is your first forum membership, but forums require some simple critical thinking skills to avoid drawing conclusions based on flawed data. The Durango is fully sorted, you made a great choice.
I can't tell if you're serious or joking....?? Critical thinking skills? On a Durango forum? Relax.

I just don't see the case for discontinuing the Durango to leave Dodge without a medium/large SUV in a automotive market obsessed with SUV's. Consumer behavior is a funny thing, and its why shared platforms are so popular. Slightly uninformed Jeep dude that would "Never buy a Dodge" has no issue buying a JGC (which we all know is the same car, essentially). So, there will be a new Durango, Dodge desperately needs it, but if its any good is unknown.
More people are willing to plunk down money on a hood that says “Jeep” than they are “Dodge”.

The fact that the next generation Durango keeps getting pushed back year after year, speaks to its importance in FCA’s hierarchy.

Those who are even the slightest bit business minded, know that such things are all about the money. A good example was GM discontinuing the Caprice/Roadmaster/Caddy Fleetwood in '96. All built at the Arlington, Texas plant. Gas was cheap, and GM was selling trucks and suvs for big, big, bucks.

As for me, I'm sure Jeep makes a fine suv, but the Durango is for me. A good friend has a '15 JGC, and I find it to be a bit crowded for my 6' 3" frame. I hope they continue to build them.

My WK2 is just right for me. A family of One! Don't need the 3rd row although I do miss the extra cargo space my 3g Durango had with the 3rd row folded down.

I still have my 2g Durango Limited for carrying the "big" stuff inside. Both the Jeep and Durango have tow packages so can always buy a utility trailer and hook it up.

The Durango is a more stylish JGC. The JGC is for soccer moms and I highly doubt that JGC would capture a large % of Durango buyers if they discontinued the line. There may be a 1-2 year hiatus while they figure it out but it will continue. Part of the problem now is how good looking the 3rd generation Durango is. Its hard to top. Why fix what isn't broken?

I spoke to a Chrysler engineer and he said the Durango will be gone in 2022. He was test driving the replacement vehicle that was in a wrap. He wouldn't tell me what it was. But he said if you like the Durango. You'll love the one that's taking its place. I snapped a quick pic of it.

Looks like a JGC-L under wraps with a Durango front end! LOL!

I will not love the new Jeep or the Wagoneer due to seating size and especially the Wagoneer pricing. Luckily there will be plenty of used '21s around when I'm done with my '16.

Why would they bother giving it an exterior and interior refresh for a year or two model years?

Well the wrinkle is that the new ownership is now official, so all bets off now as I see it with regards to Dodge. The light refresh buys some time for the new owners to decide what direction Dodge continues on or not. Hopefully it continues down its performance path as I believe they've carved out a nice niche in the marketplace.

Lol that’s a Grand Wagoneer. And I think they are atrocious.
