just need a quick reply on a 2018 Durango

my Durango, 2018 GT AWD has an electric rack correct??? I see no pump or visible steering fluid lines. my dealer says on the Multi Point inspection form that the steering pump and lines and fluid condition were checked...

Im having issues with their inspection as we have found numerous items that needed immediate replacement, that were deemed Good.
Plus , no coolant in the tank, had me think their was an issue, ie: leak somewhere. WP, head, etc etc.
the tires had say 5/32-6/32 but were worn past the bars on the edges and hydroplanned the second I took it off the lot which had been raining. Durango was all over the highway... new tires at my expense fixed that issue.

Yes, the steering rack in the 2018 is all electric now.

Probably because their check sheet is still old school like some of us are and they haven't updated it for electric steering.

When I get the annual oil change on my '14 Charger, sometimes they do a good job on the multipoint inspection, and other times they mark most of it good, or N/A. If you think about it, there is no problem with the fluids and lines, because they aren't there! :0)

call me old school bc I`m nearing 60, and quality, integrity, Honesty, and common sense still matter. I`ve had select dealers do some work on my past vehicles bc I know them from the trade, or other related motorsports venues. today its rush rush rush, take your hard earned greenbacks and out the door with ya... All non warranty work gets done by myself regardless of Super Charger install, or bulb change, lol

Re the timing belt, tech starts the engine, looks at his watch, " sounds good to me lol!" I hope he filled the blinker fluid, adjusted the canudder valve, and greased the muffler bearings. 😂 😂 😂

How many miles on your D? I know it's under 75K, because that is the cutoff for the CPO program. My Charger was a CPO car as well. When you look over what CPO offers, it's pretty good. Giving you another 3 months on the bumper to bumper, as well as taking the powertrain warranty to 7/100 vs the standard 5/60 that an '18 comes with.
The dealer can make or break the sales experience as far as I am concerned. The filters should be replaced if the time/mileage interval calls for it, not simply "there."

When I brought my '04 D home in '10, I discovered that it still had the oem air filter at 53k. Until then, I had never seen an air filter look that bad. Dealers these days will do the absolute minimum they can get by with to get a used car out on the lot, and out the door.

If you are going to keep it a good while, consider adding a service contract through FCA. I planed to keep my Charger for at least 10 years, so I went for the Lifetime Max Care plan, which sadly is no longer available.

Almost 40k now. Was purchased with 31,500 on the clock. Only had it since mid October.
We paid 2841.00 for dealer warranty. Yeah, not the best experience. In fact it was the worst dealer experience in all our years of car buying. What's done is done, they won't change the way the deal went or they way we feel about it. I had a day off to go see this Durango and it was pouring out... I didn't listen to my own advice and not purchase a vehicle in the rain. The test ride was short bc there was NO fuel in the vehicle. I didn't inspect the vehicle 100% bc of the weather and quite a bit of interior trim is beat up, like a family of racoons lived in it. Was just to much work for us to get the car clean. Took days, and still some areas that need attention. My 2019 truck I traded was immaculate compared.
Carfax showed one accident, body damage, when I got home and thoroughly looked at it, structural is good, paint match is good, body panels look good. Affected door has a rattle, and found hood margins gaps off quite a bit. I do like the Durango. The dealer can not answer or won't share what service work or repairs were made previously bc of privacy issues.
The salesman didn't even know there was an aftermarket hitch on the truck.
I'd bet they installed it and it wasn't the best either.
I took the time to source the bumper support beam and put it back, and install an under bumper hitch which is more useful to me. Plus all new wiring and module...

Sorry to hear that. Was the warranty you got the MVP plan? If not, I would cancel it, and get an MVP. The dealers like to sell the 3rd party crap, because they make more up front. The thing is, the 3rd party plans don't cover like the factory backed plans do.

If the D was in that bad of shape, have you taken your concerns up the corporate ladder to see if you can get some relief there?

I believe so. We received an invite for MVP in the mail recently and spoke with the manager and he checked the deal and said that it is the service contract we purchased.
I had legit questions, wanted to document the oil stain on the rear diff. I've done enough repair work in my lifetime across several brands to know when I suspect or question when I see parts or cases are wet or evidence there of. They gave it a glance from the ground looking up and said it's fine. I was hoping the fluid level would be checked...
I wanted past records to verify if any work was done involving the diff. Got no where.
It is what it is, I also said to myself that I would not purchase any vehicle during covid-19 bs. Live and learn... Hopefully this Dodge will run the distance. I know a few people who run them up to 95, 100k and get another. Their input was positive which helped. But the dealer and the condition is another story.
My OCD will have me changing out the scuffed plastics.

Here's another thing, how in the hell do you rub the chrome off the surround ring on the face of the steering wheel air bag???
I'm thinking some lady's purse suitcase resting on the air bag... Wow...
I saw a piece on amazon to change that chrome piece out...

You should have been given documentation on the MVP plan. It's a good plan, and you can go to any FCA dealer. That trim ring must be a common thing, as others have commented about it as well. Don't forget that your plan allows for a loaner vehicle for any service or regular maintenance issue you take it in for.

My dealer is a 40 mile round trip from home. I request a loaner to run errands in while they do my oil change, and tire rotation.

same here, it was a good few hours of the day just to pick up the plates, and have a new Fob and key cut, which BTW we had to remind them that they owed us a second Fob/key that if they didn`t get the 2nd key from the previous owner that the dealership would provide one. They did not get the key from the PO< and had to provide us with another, that was part of the deal and they don`t hesitate to remind us that they really are not responsible for one key trade ins... I gave them 2 keys/fobs and the valet key to my past 2019 truck... WTH...

in that visit. they installed the tags over the paper temp tag, over the plastic advertisement that says CPO vehicle crammed under the tag plastid frame and stripped the screws while doing so... same with the front plate, it wasn`t sitting in the groove bc of their crappy plastic dealer advertisement frame and under the metal tag was another plastic CPO advertisement, How fcking lazy could you be, and yes the front screws were also stripped... Nice huh...

at that visit I questioned the wet rear diff, and they said it was fine... :rolleyes:

I bought a 3 year old car on a rainy day once...and after going to wash it a few days later I noticed the front end appeared to be hit with about 20 cartridges of buckshot...The front end paint chips were terrible and it was hidden by the downpour. They got me.
I hope you were presented a deal that was way too good to walk away from...because this 18 sounds like it was driven hard and neglected bigtime! Honestly if the interior or a car looks like a group of animals occupied for some time, I'd think that there's no way the dealership would even consider going over anything else, or even raise the hood to work off of a CPO punch list. This dealership is a joke. There's no way I'd use this place for anything, warranty work included.
The low radiator bottle probably indicates a leak. These radiators can have hairline cracks or poor side seals which may not drip fluid on the ground, but you will notice the mist or steam coming from the front end while stopped. Maybe have it pressure tested, somewhere else!
I hope you find no more surprises, because these are beautiful suvs and fun to drive.

Exactly, left in the history on the GPS was all the PO's info, including the many places the D went. Including Raceway Park in NJ. For the Love of GOD, I pray the PO tool didn't track this V6 Durango. 🙄
So in regards to privacy about me getting past service records, I saw phone numbers and addresses from the last PO. Don't you think they should have deleted all that before purchase. The salesman showed us nothing about our D. We found more info on the net and forums on how to reset items and deal with the mess, moreso than the dealership.
If it were me, they would all be fired.

Yep...even more reason to never go back to them.
I'm sure you'll get this rig shined up. and all used vehicles require some time behind the wheel to work out the minor kinks and annoyances.. But damn, when the dealerships don't/cant even address the obvious issues, that's bad. Email headquarters and cc. the dealership. They'll wake up
