This is little more than a speculation at this point, but please chime in with your opinion of the following deal:

New 07 Durango Limited with 4.7. Sticker is $43,140.

With my 04 Grand Caravan as trade (no $$ owed on it) the bottom line is exactly $20k. The 07 has obviously been on their lot for a long time and since they still have 7 07's left, it's a good bet they really would like to move it. Does that sound like a good deal? Should I reasonably expect to be able to push further? It may be now or never for us, as far as value of the Caravan and extreme motivation of the dealers. I had a thread about it a few months ago but it's pretty much put up or shut up time now.

Thoughts?

Just push as far as you can!

I know I've been beating it to death but it's a big decision in my case and I want to feel like I did the best I could and left nothing on the table. That's where the collective experience of you good people comes in.

I think the 20 K is a good deal!
Sticker $43k - $5000 current incentives makes it $38K - $20 k They ofer you the D for = $18 K on trade for your 04 caravan

I agree, that sounds like a good deal to me. Do it, you'll have a great new D (with the updated 4.7!) after getting a fair trade on your van. You'll have trouble getting the smile off your face.

GO FOR IT!!

Well the sales guy also has an 07 Night Runner with the Hemi but a few less options that was stickering at $39, which he already said they'd go a little better than $20 flat so I guess they're really motivated. How does that rebate and incentive thing work, anyway? That's from DC right? So the extra work the dealer does is their own wiggle room I guess?

What they told me is that after so long on the lot, DC starts making the dealers pay interest on the unsold ones and that's the case with these remaining 07's and gets them to making better deals than before. Does that sound true?

Just do it! Just so you know the 4.7 in that D may or may not be the new 4.7.
check the window sticker

Sorry, I forgot it might or might not be. Just look at the HP. Old 4.7 should be listed at 235 HP (if I remember correctly), new 4.7 is 300 HP (again, numbers are close, you get the idea).

All this chatter you could have had this D in the driveway by now!!

I know Steve, I know. But in the few months I've been fretting about this I've gotten the dealer down further so I guess it's good. Here's the online window sticker if it helps tell what the engine is. By the way would you go for the Night Runner with the Hemi and less options or the plushy Limited with the 4.7?

depends on if you'll tow with it or how much you'll tow. either is probably good for everyday things, but if you plan to tow anything heavy, go with the Hemi.

If its the new 4.7 I'd get that no matter what! If its the oruginal 4.7 follow Dwaynes Guidlines.
If I wanted Raw towing Power and grunt get the Hemi

The new 4.7 should have 2 spark plugs each? 16 total

DT:

From the looks of the window sticker, I'm betting that this is the older single plug 4.7. Your right that this rig is loaded to the gills!! I think you're getting a great deal either way. 18k for the mini van seems incredible. We all know they play games with the numbers, but bottom line if you can drive off the lot for 20k and your van in a new D, I think its a win-win.

BTW, if that Nightrunner is closely equipped, the Hemi would be nice to have for even a bit less money especially if the 4.7 is the older one.

I don't know how they do their hokus pokus. No way can they justify 18k for the van trade in, it's got to be more like 10. They're just really taking a hit on the D I guess. I didn't see how they ruffled the numbers but it can't be 18k for the van. It's not worth that even retail, I think. As for the 4.7 vs 5.7, this is the wife's D so she could basically care less. Eventually it'll be handed down to me and I'd like the Hemi but she'll likely be in favor of the creature comforts. But if a lot of people say Hemi Hemi Hemi, maybe she'll listen.

That Limited is really loaded up nice. THat is a first Generation 4.7 The window stickers at my local dealer say HO 4.7 engine
The gen 2 is fairly large So we're back to what Dwayne said if towing is ever gonna be a concern get the Hemi.
Show us the window sticker from the Midnite Express or whatever its called
