When I bought my srt , used, it was fine, had the oil changed and about 2 grand later I had a leak that I noticed in my garage. From my understanding , the oil filter is very close to something else under the engine and makes it hard to remove and change. Whoever did the oil change probably didnt change the filter right.

Just an update... decided to do the process of elimination and change out the filter that was just leaking to another new one. Went from a K&N to a Mopar and yes this sombitch still leaking.

So... on to the next, gonna take it in to the dealer and tell them to fix this shit. Oil cooler is gonna have to get changed out. Won’t be able to take it in till next week so bare with me on the update. Thanks fellas

I do all of my oil changes and have had multiple issues with this on my 18 SRT. I end up having to retighten the filter multiple times. I’m using the White SRT filters but that may change. I’m due for 30kservice next so it will go to the dealer for that. I’m not sure why the filter setup is different on this versus the SRT Charger/Challenger.

Well it looks like the filter was Not the problem as I have more oil on my floor, so back to the Dealership it goes tomorrow. :(

Before I got them to consider the cooler... this is what mine looked like:

Just to be clear, the engine oil Cooler (Mopar - 5037523AB) solved your oil leak?

How do we document oil change with active warranty.
I do mine on my truck and keep receipts and write in owners manual the intervals I change at.

Same goes for srt?

Using oem always

That is what I have always done...but there is no need to use OEM. As long as you use whatever meets the specs. They cannot require that you use OEM parts....that creates legal issues for the manufacturer. Under federal law, though, the only way that the warrantor can refuse warranty work is if they can show that the failure-in-question was caused or contributed to by work or a modification (or abuse, I suppose) done by a third party. So for an oil change to come into the equation, there needs to be a lubrication-related failure. So, yeah, if you use the wrong oil filter and all the oil leaks out and you seize your motor....that's on you. If you decide to fill your crankcase with 90W oil and you blow your motor...that's on you. But lubrication related failures (wrong oil) are almost nonexistent these days.

Only once was I asked to produce receipts for an oil change.....and that was more of a process of elimination question on a knocking/ticking problem with a Z06. And i did not use an OEM filter, and they didn't care. I showed them my receipt, and they moved on to other forms of troubleshooting.

I had the exact same issue. A day after the oil change at the dealer, the next morning there was oil on the floor. Wiped it up as I thought maybe some residual. Later that day, again some more oil. I thought this was weird. Wiped again and that evening more. Ok, something was it right. The dealer found it odd and replaced the oil filter and re tighten and no problem since. Anyway, seems like I was not the only one.

For me this is how it started. Oil after the change. But when I went from clean to an oil puddle 3000km after my last change and it kept coming back we went down this road.

I had my oil changed at 18k miles and I saw a few little puddles of oil on my garage floor every so often. I am at 21k miles now and took it back to the dealer last week and they said oil was leaking from the oil filter so they replaced that. Hopefully it doesn’t leak anymore but I will have to keep an eye on it. If not, it’s back to the dealer.

Well mine started leaking again. After the Dealership changed out the oil cooler it appeared to be fixed.

Today after I got home I noticed a couple new spots of oil. Back to the Dealership it goes on Monday. :(

Dealership Tech. said the oil filter was defective and was leaking at the crimp. They replaced the oil filter and checked for leaks.

We will see how long this one lasts. :(

That would be a new one for me. I have to wonder if they failed to properly tighten it? Either way, I hope you are good now.

I agree, I have never seen that before, but I did find a couple videos online with a similar issue, so I will give the Dealership the benefit of the the doubt.
Before I took it in, I did reach up and check to see if the filter was loose, which it wasn't.
The Dealership is well aware that I am not happy since this was the 3rd time I had to bring it back for an oil leak.

Are you using a FRAM??? I had numerous discussions and have done heaps of forum trolling. I would not run a FRAM oil filter on these engines.

Fair chance they hadn't tightened it properly but it sounds better to blame a defective part.
