I bought a used 18 DDSRT. Reading the maintenance manual on page 395 it says to change eng. oil every 6 months regardless of the mileage. My question is since we are on lock down. Can Chrysler void our power train warranty if we don't change oil every 6 months. I have only put 1100 miles since the last oil change . Dealer wants $101.00 for an oil change witch is crazy. If I follow the recommended service schedule it would be $202.00 a year

Generally, it's best practice to follow the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual. However, you can always reach out to the SRT hotline to see what their guidance is. 855-SRT-TEAM (855-778-8326).

Congrats on the new to you DSRT! If I ever have one one in the garage, it won't be new unless I win the lottery.
Look around online for dealer coupons. You should be able to do better than that. I seem to recall one SRT owner who says he gets it for $85ish at his dealer. I believe you can also buy package of them 3,4, or 5 in advance. I do that through the local dealer on my '14 R/T Charger. For the oem 899 filter, and 7 quarts of Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic, it works out to $53 per service. Yours will be a bit higher since the 6.4L calls for the 0W40 oil.

thanks I will try the SRT-team. I have really enjoy the truck. Added JLT intake and NITTO 420 tires. WE live in Cali. had planed to drive to Glacer national Park. Now I sit and count the days to the oil change.

I wouldn't trust anything that is said over a phone call. Bite the bullet and change the oil. For the cost is it worth the chance they may flag you for a powertrain warranty repair because of insufficient oil changes.
I have an SRT Hellcat. I hate it when it sits in the garage over the winter and I only get a few hundred miles on the oil before I must change it. In the end, it really is cheap insurance.

They can't "void your warranty" for failure to perform recommended maintenance. If you encounter a failure, and they can show that the failure was caused by failure to maintain or improper maintenance of your vehicle, they can deny a warranty claim.

I highly doubt that any modern automobile engine has suffered an oil-related failure because the oil was a year old or even 2 years old.

$101 for an oil change is not unreasonable, sadly, as long as they are using the SRT-spec'd stuff. The Pennzoil Ultra Platinum list price is ~$12 per quart, and the engine takes 7 quarts. Oil filter list price is ~$15. Of course I do my own oil changes so I haven't shopped dealer pricing....

Not a bad idea to change your own oil if 1 you like doing it 2 you don't mind having to clean up and dispose of the old oil and filter and 3 its worth doing yourself over just taking it in and letting them do all of that while your hands are clean.
But now that we are in this crappy situation with the whole world now is not a bad time to start doing things like this yourself in your own garage and it will give you something to do for about an hour or so.

Also remember that when you take your car to a dealer for an oil change, that work will go to the newest, least trained member of the team. I have heard of more dealer fuggups on routine maintenance calls than I can count. Everything from leaks to door dings to inexplicable miles. Plus there is the annoying upsell of various maintenance shit that you don't need.

I can do an oil change in about 15 minutes....add 5 minutes for cleanups (I use ever precious rubber gloves so my hands dont even get dirty.....LOL). I maintain 5 cars and two four-stroke boats....I warehouse the dirty oil for several months until I have several gallons, then take one 15 minute trip to the auto parts store to dump the dirty oil.

I save lots of time and lots of headaches with DIY.......and sometimes a little cash, too.

I did use Jiffy Lube once, many years ago, when I was living in an apartment, needed an oil change, had no garage available to me, and there was a crapload of snow on the ground. It took more time to drive there and wait than if I did it myself. I also let the dealer do the initial free oil changes on my Z06 (10 quarts!), and that took a lot of time, too.

DIY is the way to go, for me.....but I have always been somewhat of a gearhead.

I use to DIY oil changes until I bought a 06 Magnum RT it has a life time power train warranty. I get Mobil 1 mopar filter at wallmart. Dealer charge $15.00 to change oil. Also 09 Ram, 17 Chrysler 300S. All have life time warranty. I don't want to have to keep all the records at home. I find it strange that SRT engines need oil changed every 6 months regardless of the mileage. Hemi engines have been very reliable. Magnum RT has 168000 mi. It still runs advertised 0to60 and 1/4 mile time since new. I want the motor to blow up so bad. so I can have some real fun after FCA replaces the motor.
