Hello everyone,
I couldn't seem to find the thread that had this info in it. I read a few people already did the upgrade but again I couldn't find it so I hope they see this thread and comment or post a link.
I found this on youtube is this what you guys did?

I did it in my 2014. All you need is the radio and the USB hub, and the Infotainment module if you want to keep heated seats/wheel. You need a new rear HVAC control if you want rear HVAC to operate independently of the front. I didn’t care about that for now, so didn’t bother.

The install took about 15minutes and has been working for about 6mos without issue. Best mod I’ve ever done. I got the radio off eBay, and just waited for a good deal. All in, I spent ~$900 and I think it was worth it as I use CarPlay every single time I drive the car.

There are some drawbacks - you lose the remote connection feature with the App. I never used that, so I didn’t care. You also need to call SiriusXM to change the radio code if you have satellite, which is trivial. I think you also lose OTA updates.

Just curious, what do you mean by remote connection?

Loving my 2017, but wished I had the Android Auto option. Finally came across a good deal on an 8.4 from a 2021, P/N 68465149AB. Installed it and the new Media hub P/N 68323664AC OE. Acquired the install code from the stealership with the carfax of the wreck I bought it from, its VIN and the serial number of the radio. Everything works...BUT the Android Auto?!
I check the part number and it addresses it as a MULTI MEDIA. Radio Control Unit with GPS Navigation.
2021. Radio Control Unit.
Top it off I can't even find a SW version. All I get in the Dealer/Engineering window is this?
Anyone know what I did wrong? Did I miss something? Leave a part out of my build?

HELP!

That is what I am leaning toward. Many other models have divided the Uconnect system so it's totally possible. Or maybe a different update to the media hub. It would be a shame to stuck with the radio and not be able to use it!

I say hold on to it. Someone will buy off you. Because getting straight from Mopar will cost an arm and leg.

Get a radio from 2019 or 2020, assuming you have the 8.4 U-Connect radio now.
