All,

This is probably a very stupid question? The passenger side wiper blade should be 20", correct? I have tried 2 different 20" blades (an Autozone winter generic and a Bosch 20") and both of them have issues with touching the glass. In other words, the center of the blade is on the windshield, but both ends are off. It appears that the D windshield is too curved? 20" on the drivers side works just fine!

The D windshield has been replaced (while I lived in AZ? broken windshields are very common there), so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.

Joe, I just went out and measured mine, driver side is indeed a 20", however the passenger side is a 18". the entire surface of the 18 inch blade contacts the glass. grab an 18" blade, and your all set :cheesy:?Ron

Thanks for checking that for me! Back to the store?

I use 2 20" ANCO Winter Blades and they work fine. At park, the end is slightly off the glass, but make full contact on its sweep. The generic winter is too stiff to conform properly, the Bosch is arced in the wrong direction, the curve is away from the windshield instead of with it.

I have had good luck with 20" Trico Teflon non-winter, the frame is a little heavier than the Trico Exact fit.

I'm pretty sure that I have 20" wipers on both as well and have the same situation (I'm using bosch wipers from about 1.5 years ago.) Though this may be why the passenger side needs replacing now rather than the driver's side. Question jimbo, but what do mean by it's arced in the wrong direction? It may be because I'm sick and really tired right now so please factor that into the "well that's a dumb question" response? :)

I ended up getting an 18", and it seems to have more contact, although the end of it still doesn't contact the windshield. However, it's working better than the 20" did. It'll work for me!

Not sure of the size, but I'm using the Bosch Icon arms, the totally flexible ones, best wiper arms I have ever used. I bet those would solve the problem. That or something on that side may be bent and causing the non contact. Their parts finder on the website says mine are 21 drivers, 20 passenger.

If you hold up the wiper blade with the blade facing down, you'll see that the blade tips curves upward, like a smile. Most conventional blades have the tips curving downward, like a frown. I once took the blade out of a Bosch and remove the metal spine from the blade and reversed it. The curve changed and the blade worked better.

If you have the OEM blades, the Trico 28" replacement inserts are the correct width and can be trimmed to the correct size. You'll also find that the Driver side is about 1/2" longer than the passenger side on the OEM. The driver side aslo has more blade attachment points 6 vs 8. At least for the 2000.

I had the same problem with trico blades and here's why: the plastic piece that clips onto
the metal hook (wiper arm ) is locked onto the blade but it's not the pivot point. if you lift
the wiper off the glass you'll see what I mean, the wiper doesn't flex or bend. hold the arm
with one hand and the rear of the blade closest to the hook and pull down, this unlocks the
plastic clip from the metal wiper frame and allows the blade to wipe?
