I just bought a 2012 Citadel. The removable push start button is missing ( have to insert the FOB) and the door handle passive lock/unlock is not working. I have replaced the FOB battery. The dealer checked the door handle and said they don't know why it is not working, but didn't offer to figure it out or get it working. Could these issues be related? What should I be looking for and can you just buy a push button? I can start the engine with the pushbutton on the FOB and do not get a "FOB not detected" when I get in. I get the "press break and push start" so it seems the FOB is transmitting. And I have confirmed in the system setting that PKE is active. Thanks for any help.

So it came with a push button start but someone removed it or it broke and fell out?
Yes you can buy a new push button..many on here have upgraded their push button to a red srt push button.
Cant comment on passive lock issue. Maybe just a setting turned off ??

The fob for 12 Durango's is different than the newer push button style FOB'S . The push button for the 12 is a separate piece which goes into the ignition. The 12 keys can have the Keyless Go option, but not all do. Perhaps somebody got a new key that did not have the Keyless Go option in it. The programming for the Keyless Go is a 2 part process also, so maybe just the Keyless needs to be programmed

I guess I assumed the push button needed to be programmed or was electronic. Didnt know it basically just a piece of plastic. I got a replacement button but now I get a "Damaged Key" message. Other forum post says it could be related to the ignition module itself. Still dont know why the Key N Go wont work. Guessing it's not programmed for the low voltage signal. The FOB itself works fine to start, lock and unlock with the buttons and works like a key for the ignition.

I know this post is from 5 1/2 years ago. I changed the battery in my FOB recently and when I out it back together, I didn't have the rubber piece with the buttons in correctly and it was covering the antenna for the lock / unlock system so the locks wouldn't open or close with the fob until I reopened it and put the piece in correctly. Then it worked fine.

I just bought a 2012 citadel with 180,000km/112,000 miles on er. This unit is mint! Buddy loved this thing, not one scratch on the console/dash etc… anyways I found it odd that the ignition had this funny wear pattern then noticed on here 2012’s have push starts. So I asked him and his response was

That there was a problem with the fuel pump relay, and removing that button seemed to solve it. There’s no Dodge dealer in town here so they went and did the first recall, they issued another one and he just never went back that way again it’s about 2-3 hours away…. Round trip So they got used to the key and never had a problem since

Prior to this knowledge I remote started it one day, left the key in my pocket, hopped in and stuck my finger in the hole and went to the store. About the 10th time I did that it just kept cranking and cranking the starter motor super fast…. Kinda like is wasn’t getting fuel.. and wouldn’t stop till I stuck the key in and shut er down.

Anyways I haven’t done that since.

does anyone know is this issue finally fixed ? It’s literally the only thing I don’t like about it, that and I got the 6 seater not the 7 was wondering if I could swap.. anyway another post.

thanks
