I agree on all your comments, thanks! This one is pretty easy for me, I really don't need it. I did a 3 plus hour round trip today with 3 of us in my D and it's just a great vehicle, totally comfortable and capable and plenty of power. If this doesn't happen now, I'm fine waiting a bit and going 2019 instead.

Unlike many, I don't get mad at dealers trying to maximize a deal. That's the business they are in. If they can convince me to pay $67,000 or so, more power to them. It is up to me to recognize the situation and understand the value of what I'm trying to buy.

I believe there are very few people walking in to look at these SRT's. By the way that is not good news for Dodge, but it is what it is. So my method is to just let the deal run it's course, if they sell it to someone else, that's OK, I'll congratulate them. But, if I make an offer on say Friday 4/25 and they can be rid of it prior to month end, which boosts their sales figures and gets a stagnant vehicle off their lot, I've given them a decision to make. I'm guessing they will say no in hopes of getting me to pay more. If it's still there the last 10 days of May, I'll remind them of my offer. We'll see!

Exactly, well put. I used to get annoyed thinking about how 'greedy' dealers were until I just kind of accepted that's all part of the business. I'm still not a fan of the pressure, numbers shell games they play, or upselling, but it is what it is. I just do what a lot of people advise (but not everyone actually does when it comes down to it)- put a number in your head where you are comfortable and simply don't go above it, even if it means walking away. If they'll do it, great. If not, oh well.

Good luck, hope it all works out your way.

Spent about 3 hours at my local dealer today just to get a feel for the SRT. The only 1 in stock was Octane Red and I wasn't definitely not going to get that color at all so no deal was going to go down today. Overall I told him my reasoning for wanting this and that I didnt need it. I tried to see if they could get a 18 model from another dealer but thats not gonna happen. Usually when dealers trade cars they want it to be even trades and since they had a 19 DSRT with options on it, it made no sense to trade for another dealer for a base DSRT 2018. Also sounds like dealers would be hesitant to lease a 2018 right now as its almost going to be 2 Model years old in the next few months. I had the guy run my credit so they could at least see what they were dealing with in me and what my best option would be as far as buying or leasing. I got a money factor of .00044 which is INSANE. My APR if i would have bought would have been 4.99% at 84 months which isn't too bad but why wouldn't I lease at a 1.08% rate for 36 months as opposed to 5% for 84 months. so It seems like leasing is going to be the route for me if i get my DSRT. If I can't lease a 2018 with a selling price @ $57k then I guess i could lease a 2019 with more options at $65k. what's everyones opinion on this? Theres no incentives really on DSRT for 2019 at all which sucks. I dont know how quick these are selling but most dont seem to wanna discount down from MSRP, the only ones that have are dealers that have 18's still in stock.

I test drove the black SRT yesterday and spent some time discussing with the dealer. On the test drive, no question it's an awesome vehicle! Great sound, pushes you nicely back in the seat, good ride though handling is definitely a bit tighter/better than my current D. I don't believe this one has the upgraded brakes and the braking was excellent, I'd see no need for an upgrade from what I felt.

They stuck to their prior deal, not willing to further discount. So, about 75K list, they offered $7,200 off for about 68k. Only offered 19 for my Citadel which is a foolishly low number. They came up to 20 on the trade, I told them I wouldn't trade, just give me a discounted price and I'd buy the SRT and sell mine myself. After a discussion with the manager they only offered another $500 off. No way I'm paying $65,000 plus for a leftover 2018 that's been sitting there for over a year. Hurting my cause was the fact that they did sell the granite SRT since my last visit.

So, I'll bide my time and see if I can make a deal on a different 2018 later in the summer.

Matty, a lot depends on how many miles per year you plan to put on and how often you want to trade to a new vehicle. The lease interest rate sounds low but you have to dig into the numbers, on a lease all you care about is the monthly payment and compare that, with 0 residual value at the end of the lease, meaning you just turn it in, with paying off a purchase and having the value of the vehicle at the end. I'll say I'm never a fan of 84 month financing on cars, you pay a higher interest rate and that's a long time to be making payments, would rather see 60 months max. JMO.

Your head is in the right place regarding wanting the best price....but don't lose sight of the fact that if wait around for the best deal, you will spend the summer driving something that you want to get rid of. Jus' sayin.....

Also....not sure about the numbers in your lease v. buy analysis, but that is another topic.....

Ive got the dealer discounting a 2019 now down to $65k with options, sounds like ill get the deal I want with a super low lease. What numbers would you like to see on lease?

$12k due at the start? What is that about?
Thats technically my equity for my trade in. $21k for trade in and i owe $8570 still. Numbers have been rounded. They are putting that 11900 towards the price. Update, I ended up ordering my 19 DSRT today. MSRP of $67970 and got $7k off of that with the color and options I want even including a sunroof, towing package and cross path system. So overall im getting a 19 for $61k and leasing. However to get that $7k lease rebate I had to accept a higher Money Factor of .00166 which still isn't too bad bad not the .00044 I was oringally at. I did the math and it was a better deal to take the $7k off with higher MF than pay MSRP and pay lower MF, also my lease is going to be 42 months so Ill have 3 1/2 years with the car to decide if I wanna keep which im sure I will. Im happy. I get to pickup the DSRT sometime middle of the week

congrats and welcome to a fun suv experience....in the end financing wants is a personal choice as long as the needs are taken care of...enjoy.:p btw what color scheme?
Yea, my thoughts exactly. If YOU are happy with the final numbers, Matty760, that is all that matters.
Congrats. Make sure you post some pics. I won't judge if isn't Octane Red...:D

Got White Knuckle with all black interior. I could have lived with Demonic Red but my heart was set on all black. I like a clean look on my cars and since my current 16 SXT plus has the same color scheme my friends and family wont probably notice or know any better other than my nephews who race and know the badging. Not to mention the sound will of course be noticable from before. I can play as a sleeper for now lol. Although the SRT logo on the seats may give me awway. Also I just couldnt beat the deal I got on this DSRT. It literally just came off the truck at a Dealer in LA and within 2 hours my local dealer was calling me saying hey we found exactly want you want at the price you were looking for. I looked up that dealer and he ordered 5 Blacks SRTs with all black interior all with the same options, he then ordered one white knuckle and one granite and took $5k off the MSRP, I ended up getting $7k off since I worked my magic with my local dealer. Anyways it has 1 mile on it and I couldnt be happier knowing its fresh off the truck and hasnt been sitting in a lot forever or has been abused by dealers or potential buyers flooring the gas lol.

Ya its not Octane Red for sure. But my local dealer was happy to trade it for the white one and get it off their lot so they can order another one. Im sorry im just not a red kind of guy. Bright red maybe but dark red colors I dont like for some reason.

So got some sad news today. Come to find out as my local dealer was trying to make the trade the other dealer said that the owner was keeping the only white DSRT as a demo/personal vehicle and was only selling the black and granite ones that came in. So that being said I would be able to still get the same DSRT with options and pricing but I would have to get in DB black which I could live with if I had to. I was set on the white thought since the white just pops out the design of the hood and grill and looks good with tinted windows etc. Im torn on what to do. i can either get the Black one in a couple of days, wait for potentially another dealer to get in stock what I want thats close to my price, or order exactly what I want and wait 6-8 weeks to get the DSRT. Id love to order cuz then that way I can put the options that I want and not just in general what a dealer orders. However Id hate waiting 2 months and getting my DSRT in summer and then my trade in loses some more value and maybe there might be some incentives for the DSRT. Who knows... can anyone give me some advice as to what they would do. Id love to get my DSRT now cuz well I want it, but then again id love to special order one and know that no one else has touched it or test drove the crap out of it and I can break it in myself the way I want. Help please Lord, decisions!!!

Get what YOU want. If you settle, IMO, you will be sorry and wish you had exactly what you want. If you get exactly what you want....well....nuff said.

My first new car, a 1985 Mustang GT, was bought out of stock because that was all they had and I didn't want to wait for an order. It was the wrong color (black), and was missing some key options. Soon after I bought it, I missed the options, hated the color, and wished I had waited and got what I wanted. Ever since then I order my cars, except in two rare instances where they had exactly what I wanted, right in stock.

Do not settle. Get what makes you happy.

I'd go ahead and order one. That's what I did. It's a bit of a wait but you'll get what you want. Also it's easy to compare prices (get bids) across dealers.

It's YOUR car. Why would you pass up the opportunity to order it and get exactly what YOU want?
I see people post on here all the time how much they hate waiting for the car to arrive. But they'll spend weeks debating on the forums whether or not to buy from the dealer. Unless you drive a ton of miles I don't see your trade-in depreciating that much. When I ordered my 2014 R/T the dealership assessed my trade and stuck to the amount when I picked up the truck almost 3 months later. The entire process should be about negotiating what YOU want for the price YOU are willing to pay.
