Hello,

Anyone got any pictures of their 2nd gen Durango with Infinity Audio and the location of the tweeters in the door panels. Obviously the Lower door speakers are the same between the Infinity systems and base models. I'm looking for pictures of the door panels where the tweeters are located. I believe they were in both Front and Rear door panels. Any help is appreciated.

I just installed some Kicker DSC650 Coax in the front lower door door panels and it was a big improvement in Bass and Highs. Considering a Component setup for the front doors only and would either buy the appropriate door panels if I can find them or mount the tweeters close to where the Infinity systems had them. Move the Kicker Coax speakers to the rear doors.

Thanks.

from the 04 FSM:
The premium speaker system features nine speakers in nine locations. One 16.5 centimeter (6.5 inch) diameter
speaker is located in each front door. There is also one 16.5 centimeter (6.5 inch) diameter speaker located in each
rear door. A 1.9 centimeter tweeter is mounted high in each rear door trim panel. Two tweeters (8.9 centimeter (3.5
inch)) are also located on the top portion of the instrument panel. Included with the premium speaker package is a
subwoofer located in the left rear quarter panel. The premium speaker system also includes an amplifier. The total
available power of the premium speaker system is 384 watts.

So, my 07's build sheet shows I have:

AM/FM CD 6-Disc MP3 Radio
Steering Wheel Mounted Audio Ctrls
276 Watt Amplifier
8 Alpine Speakers
Sirius Satellite Radio
Rear Seat Video System

It is not Infinity so I do not know it it was 'top of the line'. So this may not be too helpful.

Anyway, for reference, here's my front and door speakers.

These are on the dash toward the windscreen. Sorry the photo is dark. You can see the raised mounds where the speakers are, at least the right side somewhat clearly.

These are the rear doors with speaker locations. Same on both sides. Hope this is somewhat helpful.

Thanks. Pictures is what I've been looking for to confirm the actual placement.

I have the small round speaker openings on top of the dash like you've shown. I'm sure my Durango doesn't have any speakers under there as my build sheet says I only have four speakers. I'd guess that plastic trim with the speaker openings is standard on all trim levels even if there aren't speakers there.

The rear door panels were what I wanted to see. I'm contemplating throwing in a set of component speakers in the rear doors. Your picture gives me the approximate location where I can drill my panels for the tweeters and know I have enough room and be close to stock positioning.

I also managed to score this off Ebay. The OEM 2nd gen Sub. I've got a PAC LOC already and an Alpine compact amplifier to run it already. Just need the rear quarter panel trim for it or modify my existing one.

Anyone have a picture of that rear trim panel with the subwoofer or know where I can get one? Thanks again for the pictures.

Can confirm, only one speaker in the front doors for the 05 infinity system.
Looks like the Tweeter speakers for the front is on the top of the dash for Premium Audio like Durangutan shows in his posting.

Tell me where it is and I will try to get a picture. If it is floor level then forgive the mess... D'tan wears a lot of hats, including dog transport roles.

It would be in the rear drivers side trim panel back by the hatch. Thinking it would like something like this:

Looking to see what the actual trim panel looks like.

Doesn't look like you have a sub. Thanks for taking the time to get pictures.

Interesting that 2nd gens had Alpine and Infinity Audio options.

Looks like your 8 speaker Alpine Audio has the two dash speakers, two lower front door speakers and four rear door speakers. No Sub.

I'd guess the Infinity system has the same locations for the 8 speakers as you have plus the sub to make nine.

Actually the rear door panel picture was very helpful for my potential component speaker install and tweeter placement. Might do the same with the front doors so I don't have to deal with getting at those top dash speakers.

Won't have to run additional wires and know I can put the crossover block and tweeter directly in the doors. Just drill holes for the tweeters in the panels.

Thanks again.

What year Durango is that? That trim panel appears to be what I need. Even the correct gray color!

Mine doesn't have the raised circular section that goes up and around the sub. The level section that has the cup holders extends back almost to the rear in mine.

So it looks like that's the kick panel I need to make the OEM sub work. If you ever get a chance to pull the panel and check the part number on it, I'd appreciate it. Or if anyone else knows the part number or has a copy of the 2004/2005/2006 parts catalog they can share, I would appreciate it.

I would of moved the quickrete out of the way, but that stuffs heavy.
No that's fine! Thanks. Looks like the exact trim panel I need in the right color!

Might have to go with Plan C for now until I can find that trim panel. The OEM Infinity Sub box I just bought won't work with my current trim panel. Until I find one, I'll use the 12" Infinity sub in a sealed box with the Alpine amp which are pieces I already have. Also have a PAC OEM LOC and a KnuConceptz Amp wiring kit.

Once I find the correct trim panel, I can move everything over except for the 12" sub.

Thanks again everyone for your responses, info and pictures.

The front panel on my 05 looks exactly like the pictures Durangutan posted. I think Alpine replaced inifinty as the premium option with the facelift in 06/07 or whenever that was.
My rear panel looks nothing like JCCs as far as I know, which is interesting.

Need to rig up a test bed for the Infinity Thub and Alpine Amp. Figure just run RCAs from my home stereo to the Amp and power it with my 12 VDC Bench power Supply.

If I can find the correct Rear Quarter panel for the Sub...I'll be good to go. Got a WTB thread posted looking for one. Need to try the local yards also.
