Trying to remove pitman arm on 1998 Durango SLT. Can not get the pitman arm free from the center Link that goes between the end rods. Have tried forked removal tools with hammer and also with air hammer as well as the usual removal tools that bush on the stud, but it will not budge. Some people have said to use a torch to loosen the fitting. I am concerned about this from a safety standpoint with all the grease around that area. Any ideas about the safety of this or about how to get this arm out?

Thanks. It was the pitman arm end that attaches to the center link that I was trying to get loose. Had been unable to access the other end below the steering gear box. Was still afraid to use torch with car in my garage. Finally cut the old pitman arm and removed the center link with the cut-off end attached. Took it outside and used propane torch and a sledge hammer to easily remove the remaining piece.
