So I went to the airport this past Monday and used my Uconnect GPS and it worked normal. Came home from my trip on Friday and on the way home the GPS was all F'd up. The heading was wrong and location was off and the further I drove the more off it became because it thought I was driving a direction totally different than I really was.

I thought maybe since I was parked in ramp that the GPS signal was lost and never updated and hopefully all I had to be was start and stop the engine and it would reboot and be good to go.
Well I started it up this morning again and it was still FUBAR'd. The location is over 50 miles away from where I really am.

Anyone else have this happen?
Is there a way to reboot or recalibrate the GPS?

Thanks,
Chris

Hey Chris, I probably won't be much help other than keeping this active to get someone who can help to notice.

Is this happening when you are using apple play or android for the GPS or the actual onboard navigation? How would someone replicate your issues?

If you answer "no" to the apple or android I would take it direct to a dealer and show them on your map where your car thinks it is. Have them fix that, because that's what warranties are for.

It's happening to the onboard navigation.
I will take it to the dealer forr sure, but wondered if this has happened to anyone else and if there is an easy DIY fix to get the NAV rebooted/recalibrated.

It's very strange to say the least.

You may be correct in your assumption that the 'bomb-sniffers' may have degaused, or scrambled your GPS' magnetic compass. How accurate is your dashboard compass heading?

Yes, but with a garmin 'dash-wench' a few years back. I tracked it down to the nearby base of a magnetic phone-holder which was pulling the embedded compass off true north that caused the problem... I was 40 miles from where I was supposed to be before I knew something was "amiss".

Yes. Reboot can be accomplished by pulling it's fuse. I think the GPS is on the same cicuit as the GPS/U-Connect system, as they're integrated.
Caveat; I'm not sure if you will lose all your station programming on Uconnect systems, but suspect you will, if it's like all the rest of them.

GPS Antenna shouldn't be affected by Magnetic Interference. Compass will.

Dashboard compass reads the same as the NAV compass. Anywhere from 90 to 180 degrees off. It seems to vary.
That's odd for sure. If you have a handheld compass, try walking around the car and see if North indication varies away from close to magnetic North. The neighbors may look at you funny, but You may have some very strong magnetic field someplace that's pulling it out. Outside of that, I'd take that puppy to the dealership and see if they can recalibrate them. In mountainous areas, or heavy solid overcast, GPS can loose locks on satellites. They need lock-on from at least three, but accuracy increases with more birds. Three is bare minimum for reliable navigation.

See if there is a compass page in your uconnect settings.. and if there is a calibration button there.. there was one on '17s..
Press “Compass Calibration” on the touchscreen to enter calibration. To start calibration of the compass, press the
“Yes” button on the touchscreen and complete one or more 360-degree turns (in an area free from large metal or metallic
objects). A message will appear on the touchscreen when the compass has been successfully calibrated.
Keep magnetic materials away from the rear view mirror, such as Mobile Phones, Laptops and Radar Detectors. This
is where the compass module is located, and it can cause interference with the compass sensor, and it may give false
readings.
If it exists, you should set/check your variation before doing this.

Same issue in GA

I reported a similar problem on this board a few months ago. I got my Durango brand new last July (9 miles), and ever since it occasionally thinks I am in Indiana instead of Georgia. I don't have onboard nav, so I use Apple Car Play or Android Play. Both have the same issue. It happens no matter what phone I attach to the car (iPhone or Samsung) and no matter which OS is installed.

When it happens, it screws up all my nav programs (Waze, Apple Maps, Google Maps, etc.) as well as my compass AND my 3rd party family locator app . The situation resolves itself after about 5-10 minutes of driving with the GPS spinning around trying to figure out where I am.

Well, I finally got it into the dealer and they tried something with software and had no success. They are ordering a new radio and it will be a couple weeks until the parts are in. Hopefully that solves it. Will report back when I have an update.

I had a similar issue "resolved" recently. My GPS was all over the place, BUT I kept getting messages to take it to the dealer for service. I did, and they said they tried 4 or 5 times unsuccessfully, to update my Uconnect system, and ended up bricking it in the process. They got me a new unit, and it's been working fine ever since.

Finally got my radio replaced after three months of waiting and incompetence by the dealer.
Navigation and compass work like normal again.
Plus, I now have XM again for free. Hopefully I get a full year free again or just permanently free.

Give it time. It usually corrects itself, at least on the next start. That's how mine is anyway. If yours is perpetually off then you might need a hard reset or a software update.

This is happening to mine right now!
I have a similar problem only my new connect would just not accept the update so they told me they had to replace my radio so I took it to the dealer and they replaced my radio. Noww my GPS doesn't work My SOS doesn't work My assist doesn't work none of my stop/start remote features on the app work. All because of the new radio change.

How long has it been since install? It can take several days for all functions to work again. Otherwise try these for soft and hard resets:

A couple of tips I found for resetting it:

U-Connect soft reset instructions per U-Connect:
Vehicle off, Key in ACC position (NOT RUN)
Press and hold virtual assistant (VR) and green phone button on steering wheel for 30 seconds.
Turn to OFF, Open driver door, wait 30 seconds for dash screen to go dark.
Close driver door.
Start vehicle.

Or:
in order to hard reset it for it to kick itself out of that freeze, with the car in ACC mode, you press and hold the button on the volume knob as well as the button on the changing radio station knob until the dodge emblem shows on screen.
