I agree, to err is human, to forgive is divine...............I hoped this forum would be different...........I see it's the same everywhere......sadly.
Just remember he’s one of many. He will either see himself out, get put in his place, or the admins will handle it for him if he keeps it up.

Easy access to the internet allows us to post quick responses. Sometimes too quick. And sometimes those replies come across as harsh or mean or insulting. But to reply in like fashion doesn't make it any better. If you are easily insulted by comments on a forum, you need to grow thicker skin. Starting a back and forth volley of insults doesn't accomplish anything unless the replier is doing it to make themselves "feel good". It isn't that hard to ignore a comment from someone who has ZERO knowledge of me and focus on the other, more productive, comments.

What is worse, putting in 87 or using a no name/non-Top Tier premium?
I usually put in Costco Premium because it is advertised as a Top Tier fuel. And 99% of the time it is cheaper than other brands. But every so often the Speedway (not Top Tier) by my job drops their premium and I will top off there to avoid having to go out of my way to stop at Costco.

I live in Nj and it very easy to accidentally get the wrong gas since most of the time another human is in charge of picking the grade. I usually get out and watch the dude hit the button but it’s way more likely to happen if you are not on your toes.

When I was young I used to work at a gas station and started putting regular in some guys porshe and he went ballistic. Lol it was like half a gallon before he saw it.
I gave him a free bottle of washer fluid and told him if his Porsche explodes I’ll make it my life’s goal to pay him back ! ? cause it literally doesn’t matter. Is it optimal? No, but it’s not life ending for a street car.

1...Didn't insult you.

2...Never called you a liar. I said it was hard to believe you would do that. After spending SO much money on an SRT that you wouldn't pay attention to the fuel you put in...thats all.

Mleads310? Calm down dude. really. Ill take some of your MYDOL when your done.

87 for sure. I’d avoid no-name sketchy looking places at all costs though. Speedway gas isn’t bad.

Shit happens. I’m sure you’ll claim you’ve never gotten sidetracked/absent minded about anything and realized your mistake till afterword though.

Ugh...OK...obviously you are the internet caped crusader with nothing better to do than monitor your iphone for forum villains. Do you even have an SRT? I see other cars with pretty names and upgraded headlights and window tint.

Just curious. As far as making mistakes, Ive made a few...one of which is wasting my time on your post but I wont make that mistake again.

To quote the late, great, Rodney King: "Can't we all just get along?"

Got the info I was looking for....thanks to all who responded. Will report on delivery in a few weeks.....hopefully with premium in the tank. Though....I wonder how many dealers actually fill the tanks with Premium rather than 87 prior to delivery....LOL.....

Thanks fellas.

Can’t wait!

We have an 07 Aspen that requires 89. The only difference it made was the MDS did not kick in. I'm assuming the same with the SRT. When we were in Colorado, premium was 90 octane. Here in Houston, 93 octane is premium.

As far as this EMS guy, I've been on this forum for about 22 years. Durango owners are a little more anal about their rides than the average SUV owner, but they're generally not anal to one another. This guy is an anomaly. I accidentally put diesel in my 71 Roadrunner during a hurricane. It was only a Cat 1 storm so I obviously had no excuse.

The ecu will take up for a boo boo like this. What a lot of folks forget is all OEM engine mapping is based on federal mpg requirements. Your best performance, mpg will be with recommended fuels. They have figured burn time, heat etc. Thats part of why your seeing higher compression come back. My son has a Volvo sumptin suv. Says Hi test fuel, but he regularly splits a fill up with mid grade. Heck even if you really screwed the pouch and put that e85 crap in, aslong as you burned through it you would prob be ok.

That doesn't hold true for E85 if your vehicle is not designed for it. Vehicles than can run E85 have a alcohol sensor in the fuel system that can detect the percentage of ethanol in the fuel. E85 has a different stoichiometric ratio (ratio of air to fuel for complete combustion) than gas. Gas is 14.7:1 and E85 is 9.8:1. When running in closed loop fueling (engine relies on your O2 sensor to adjust fueling) your ecu will be trying to hit 14.7:1 unless it knows to adjust. Trying to run 14.7:1 with E85 is very lean, I'm not sure it will even be able to run not having done that before. Ethanol also does one heck of a job in all the rubber seals of the fuel system, which is one reason why the fuel systems on older engines have one heck of a time when E85 fuel is left in them.

FWIW - I have run into several situations where using 87 was the only option:

For example, 3-4 times I have been travelling in rural areas and had no choice but what was available. When you 40-50 miles between towns, with limited or typically no cell coverage - you take what you can get and limp home.
Or...if you have a special friend or family member who does you a 'favor' and fills up your vehicle...and does not understand what Premium is...
Or...if you find yourself trying to run from a Category 5 hurricane...see my first example...
Or...if you are deployed to a foreign country and don't know the equivalent Octane rating (honestly, that was my bad...I should have looked it up)

Having lived in the middle of the west Texas nowhere while owning a vehicle requiring premium, one learned to keep a bottle of octane booster in the trunk.
