I pretty much mashed the pedal and went. It was also pretty damn cold the first run, and I was about the 10th vehicle to go or so, and I didn't do any burnout or anything, didn't think I'd need to! 2nd time did a super quick burnout, and launched at a lower rpm which I think hurt it a little.

No 4wd I think it'll cause damage they're 2 totally different transfer cases
Get your tires hotter and learn how to get it done.

Hey Ray, I'm glad I was able to come out. I'm sorry I couldn't stay till first round for you- had to split around 2:45. I understand your frustration! :wall: Those events really sell out and this one did- 500 tech cards- and that's the limit, they were turning people away. The import thing is on fire. Regarding your combo, I know why you don't want to use 4HI and you don't have a center diff like the full time guys do.
I really think you should consider a set of these on 2 of your 15's

These would make the deal. Put them on when you get to the track, and chain up your street wheels and jack etc. These really hook well with a little heat.
If you want to make good use of your time, and want to come down again, I strongly reccomend a regular Friday night, and get into the "Gamblers race" It's a regular bracket race every week where you kick in an extra $20, and they must give 2 time shots and run all rounds before curfew. This means you get top priority. The exact oppisite is what happened to you Sunday. It's happened to me too. If you make rounds in Gamblers, you can easily make your $ back and more.
Those Imports are impressive, but they're always oiling down the track! They recently went to a Tennent sweeper like what's used in a mall. I don't understand why. They used to use speedy dri and a truck mounted vacuum type sweeper like you see doing parking lots- that was much faster/better!

Rray
Nice times.
Here's something to think about also, I'm not sure of your stock rim size but I'd look at a set of M&H drag radials drag radials They have them in 15, 16 and 17" tires. The tires will give you the traction you need, but they're smaller. I'd guess the stock tires are close to 31" tall. If you went to a 28" tall tire you'd get more torque like adding a rear but without the cost. This is of course if you have 2 wheel drive option. The smaller tire will let your ass end sit a little lower and help the weight shift back on the launch.
Also if you check here you can get the code to get a 16% discount off the tires discount I didn't mention the site as I can't remember if were allowed to do that here.

I lot of the Dakota guys run them with great results and I'm also testing them at the moment myself. I'm running a 3.92 rear and a 28" tall tire.
It's just a thought I'm passing on and you could save some money over a rear change and still have the gear for gas mileage for everyday street driving.[/url]

That's Good advice Dave
That would give him the traction and the gearing difference

I have thought about doing that, eventually I may just do that. Hard part is justifying it since I really don't go that often, twice a year at most. We'll see. Don't have the funds for it now anyway, and if/when I do I'd want another set of wheels to put them on, so it adds up quick.

On another note, a cheap set of traction bars, think that would help out at all? Universal ones don't cost that much, but I have never used a pair before.

A set of slappers would pretty much equate to one tire. Better off getting the rubber to hook with to start.

Universal set of them is only like $45 from Summit, that was why I asked.
If you had axle hop and such, where it was making an attempt to hook, I'd say maybe and look at something other than traction bars. I think you ought to look for rubber- even used at a sawp meet or something like that. There's lots of swaps there on LI, right? I guess you can give bars a shot. Heavy D has a good idea with the Dak guys- look to see how they're hooking up- they have even less weight out back!

For the money all of you have in your D's I shouldn't even be on the hall of fame list.

It's all about driving.
With that in mind I'm opening the Race D's Durango & Jr.Dragster racing school to teach you guys how to drive.
Call me at 1-800-HOL-SHOT. My web site should be up and running in a few days.

All kidding aside, nice improvment on the previous times Ray.
Please post all the info from your time slips, and your best time slip from last year. I can give you a better idea of what you probably would have run if you hooked.

I ran over the weekend. Two day race. The temp was about 65 for a high and once we got into the later rounds it dropped into the mid 40's. I had no problems hooking with stock Michelins.

We had low humidity and higher pressure then when I made my 15.66 run, but it was colder, so no assault on the record book for me.

Race D you definitely have a talent for getting that D down the track

OK in March was when I had my previous best:

rt -.157
60' - 2.327
330 - 6.538
1/8 - 10.127
1/8 mph - 68.24
1000 - 13.269
1/4 - 15.977
1/4 mph - 82.86

temp was 47 and barometer 29.57

this time out:

rt -.292
60' - 2.265
330 - 6.432
1/8 - 9.933
1/8 mph - 70.11
1000 - 12.981
1/4 - 15.615
1/4 mph - 85.08

temp 47 and barometer 30.01

The mods in that first run listed were the BBK TB, K&N dropin and Airraid intake tube, Superchips, stock exhaust to the cat, then Flowmaster 50 SI/DO and 2.25 tails

This time, change the intake to the AFE Stage 2 CAI, and add 206 cams, HO intake, and 250 less lbs, and dropped the rear air pressure to 26lbs

I did hook for the 15.61 run, but I didn't bring the rpms up at launch to try and avoid the loss of traction like I did on my first run.

Here's a site that just posts time slips. You can look around. Use the MPH and look for similar and see what their ET's were. Looks to me you'll need 90mph to get into the 14's. I don't think that's an unreasonable goal for now!

14's would be great! I'd even be happy with sub 15.5 for now. Won't be back at the track till th spring, so in the meantime I have my new SCT tuner  to play with and get tweaked just right for me.

Ray
I was hoping you'd post your other time slips from this year to get an idea of how much you lost in 60ft.

As a comparison, you went.05 quicker, 15.61 to 15.66, but I went.05 quicker in 60ft 2.21 to you 2.26.

With my 60ft and the rest of your run, it'd have been a 15.56.

I have all my time slips here, I'll post up a few more. Both times my setup were about the same, only difference really was wheels which were basically the same weight and size, and a different intake.
