The video worked ok for me. I am gonna say belt tensioner or idler pulley. Might also be an another bearing going south, ie, alternator power steering, etc.
BTW, have you checked the PS fluid level? Being low can cause that type of whine.

I can't view the video, blocked by my work firewall, but I've never experienced a whine on a motor that changes its pitch with rpm that was not powered by the accessory belt...almost guaranteed your problem is there.

- Listen around with the engine running and see if you can locate the source of the noise.
- If you can't you can remove the belt and restart just to verify the noise goes away...might as well examine the belt and replace it while its off.
- For bad bearings in idler pulley and other free spinning things I've been able to find the bad ones just by spinning them by hand, you can feel the resistance of the worn bearings.
- Power steering does make a unique sound, different in my experience than an idler pulley, definitely check the fluid level as it could be this simple...PS pump low on fluid makes more of a moaning sound than a whining sound and you should be able to hear that moan change slightly by turning the wheel side to side while idling.

Someone had suggested on another forum that it could be the Alternator, took me an hour but had that swapped and the sound is still there. So I can rule out the belt, pulleys, tensioner, compressor, alternator, water pump and the steering pump. Basically all the belt accessories except the crank shaft pulley, which I doubt it would make that kind of whining noise.

Could it be the torque converter?

Just to be sure, did you run the engine without the belt on it when you had it all apart? How did you eliminate all of the belt driven accessories?

I was able to watch the video today, weird how that sorted itself out...sounds like the power steering pump to me.

I've never heard a torque converter go bad so I'm really not sure what it would sound like...I'd imagine that if it was making that kind of racket that you'd be having drivability problems too.
 
You can look up my post about what I thought may have been power steering pump and what I eventually tracked down. In short... if you still have the noise without the accessory belt on.. climb under truck with it running and go to where the inspection plate cover is at that is where flywheel bolts torque converter and see if noise is coming from there. In my case one of those bolts had loosened, and after it comes out 1-2 turns the head of the bolt starts rubbing as there is not enough clearance for bolt to actually work its way out. Makes a high pitch squeaking/whine. Getting that inspection plate out is only hard part of the fix if that is what your in for, but that is a huge pain in the ass.

I've watched videos on YT about the loose bolts at the flywheel and that is a different sound as you described. The sound my car makes, sounds more like a supercharger whine especially at higher rpms.

Sorry about the multitude of posts but I'm trying to get the car sorted.
Got a Dodge Durango 05 LE and it's making this high whining sound that increases with acceleration. Posted a video on imgur to get a better idea. Would appreciate any input in this.

If the noise coming from the rear of your vehicle, I would have the differential pinion bearings checked. One or both could be bad. If one is damaged, replace them both plus replace both races, crush sleeve, and pinion seal. Have limited slip additive added and fresh diff gear oil added. Estimated cost of repair will be $700-$900, but worth it.

Did you ever get this figured out? I have 06 with Hemi and I know the exact sound your talking about and I haven’t been able to figure it out either
 
Remove the serp belt, and then fire it up for 30 seconds. See if the noise changes or goes away. If so, your issue is likely the water pump, the tensioner, idler pulley, or power steering pump. Could also be an alternator bearing on the way out.

It's good to hear you have conquered the challenge. Always start with the low hanging fruit, and work up from there.

There should be 2 idling pulleys; one for the tensioner and another for belt routing. I would recommend replacing both. I had one shatter on me last winter; so I ended up replacing it in the parking lot at work in about 10F weather...my fingers hated me for the rest of the day, but at least it was only a $20 part.
