Title kinda says it all. Only got one time trial in which really sucked. I got no traction off the line so ran a lousy 16.38 @ 85.61, easily my worst run to date. Trap speed was up by 3mph from previous runs. Since I had no idea what to dial in, I went with 15.8 just as a guess, and ran a 15.61 @ 85.08 and got eliminated, but at least I got a new personal best. I'm pretty confident when I get more time at the track I should be getting the 15.5 I was hoping for. Thanks to Wayne for coming out and giving me some advice, was good to see you again man. Next time at the track for me will probably be in March. I may need to hit up a different track since the ricers do nothing but break down there and cause more downtime than anything. Anyway here are the vids of my 2 runs, you can see all the wheelspin on the first one.

15.6 still respectable time ray
I agree with Indy the LAunch is terrible
CAn you say GEARS

I went back to the stock wheels just because they're a little lighter, and the tires on the chrome wheels are a little taller as well. I'm sure they'd have hooked a lot better. I was a little hesitant to run down the track in 4WD, not sure if it was safe to run it in that mode up to 85mph.

Hi Ray:

15.6 is a pretty darned good time. I think you could have made the run in 4wd though without any problems.

After riding in your D in Newark, my butt dyno tells me that it's quite bit more reponsive than my 01. With these gas prises though, I'm hesitant to get Superchips and have to run premium gas.

I know you upgraded your cams also. I wonder how much of that gain was the cams as opposed to the tuner.

I'd like to see your D on a dyno to see what kind of numbers it puts up.

Eventually I do plan to get on a dyno just our of curiosity. The Superchips does add a good deal of performance, but the cams add more power mid and top end, so you probably felt a little of both. Once I get some more custom tuning it should be even better, but I really gotta get on the dyno to work that out.

First Run you just burned em up
Second Run She Hooked up a bit but couldn't wind up fast enough to get into Cams best working RPM range.
3.55 are Gas saving Gears and that's it.
Install a min of 3.92 in those Diffs and watch it come to life right off the line.
While My D is no rocket, with the 4.11's it'll launch hard right out of the box even when using 33" tires
You'll lose a bit on top end but not that noticeable

Still not too shabby for the little 4.7

You won't see much of adifference from a 5.9 to those times

LOL Hit a sensitive spot?

No Not for me I have no intention of racing anyone but the facts are the stock D 5.9 runs about the same in the 1/4 mile.
Settle Down Warren Don't start trouble where there's not any.
Besides with stock tires and my 4.11 I'd leave off the line just fine!

If I didn't say it, Indy would have! I guess I'd better hold my tongue until spring when I post my OWN times.

Well your isn't stock so you best hope for at least a 15 flat. With the $$$ you have spent on the Motor you should be able to trim.6 off of Rays Time

I guarentee I'd take time off those. No wheel slippage here, FT4x4, hole shot torque, not so stock stocker 5.9, crazy driver, etc.

See?I TOLD you.

Well by spring I'll have better tuning installed, I wish gears but that's highly unlikely. If I had gears there would be a whole host of trouble getting off the line in 2wd I think. You guys think its safe to run in 4WD to 85mph or so? I know in other 4wd vehicles I have owned the owners manuals usually mentioned not to go over 55 or so, not sure how it's for the D. If I can leave the line at a higher rmp and not spin I'm sure there's some time to be made up.

Should be okay, but don't quote me.

My advantage is that I'm a 2000 FT4x4 anyway with no 2 wheel option. So in MY SPECIFIC situation, 55MPH, 75, 105 or more? it's all good for me. No slippage and all the HP that gets to the wheels goes straight on the pavement as power. On the 2001-2003s there's the AWD and it should be the same for them, no problems.

In your situation, I don't think 1/4 a mile would hurt anything one way or the other on the drivetrain. It'd prevent your wheel slippage but could cost you some on the transfer case percentage of HP loss. Try it one run and see what happens.

Do you peddle the throttle at the shift points or stick it, hold it down and let the PCM and sensors take care of everything from one end of the run to the other?
