Nokian Hakkapeliitta r2 or r3, (R3 is replacing the R2 this year() I run 275/50r20s on both my Jeep SRT and DSRT in the winter and wouldn’t consider anything else.

Here are my 275x50s r20s mounted up on some spider monkey reps 20x10s. These are the new R3s. I run the exact same setup on my wife’s JSRT but she has the older R2s. This is a go anywhere tire in the winter, far more impressed with these vs my previous Blizzaks.

That actually looks better than the stock tires! The tire wall looks thicker. Roughly how much does it cost for the whole set?

The wheels are about $600 for a set on eBay (they look great but are heavier than OEM and need some seriously balancing but work great for the winter) and the Nokian r3s are about $1000 Msrp a set (actually cheaper than the older r2s for some reason.) I worked with Discount and paid significantly less than retail so work with them and see what they can do for you.

I'd also be interested in suggestions for winter tires and a cheap source of wheels for dedicated winter driving.

An earlier post suggested Nokian winter tires, which also scored the best in Car and Driver's testing.

But unfortunately they're not sold by Tire Rack. Tire Rack lists only one type of tire that fits the standard 20x10 SRT wheels: the Pirelli 295/45R20 "Scorpion Winter Performance," which have the mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

As for wheels, the cheapest wheels Tire Rack sells are KM696 Pivot: $237.69 x 4 = $951 for a set of four.

Does anyone have any recommendations for cheap(er) wheels? Any experience, good or bad, with the Pirelli Scorpions?

will be putting on my winter setup tomorrow ..ended up with the scorpion winters...in 275 width ...wheels are a thin split spoke like the option wheels for srt. After some miles I will post back how they handle on this vehicle.
