New to the forum like to know the durango owners think. We are looking at a Bullet Premier 29bhpr dry weight 5985 hitch weight 610 total length 34
4 will be towing it with a 2011 DD crew with factory tow package with e break and weight and sway control hitch. Will have just my wife and 2 small children all 4 of us about 400 pounds and about 600 pounds of stuff in the camper and no water in tanks. Would love to have some positive feed back
Thanks Tom

We bought a 28' Grey Wolf last fall towing with the same D you have. Couple thoughts. Dry weight doesn't include everything as sitting on the dealer lot, but it's a good starting point. Our TT listed dry at 5100# and tongue at 600#. I've since rearranged some gear, but initially after loading the TT w/ about 500# of stuff, the tongue went to about 850#. I've CAT scaled my setup, combined was 11,660#, D by itself was 6000#, TT was 5660, and I'm about 400lbs under on the max axle weights (3200 front and 3900 rear) with the TT hooked up and WDH engaged. At the time, there was 2 of us in the D, maybe 100#'s of gear in back and 1/4 tank of gas - so I was pretty much maxed out if i had a full tank of gas. With the WDH engaged, there's only 740#'s added to the D by the trailer (i.e. the WDH pushed 100# back to the trailer axles). We mainly camp in state parks within 4 hours of home, no mountains, so this works for us until I can get a truck. 34' is a lot of trailer from a wind perspective. The tongue weight on the trailer you mentioned is at 10%, which is the low end of what you want (10%-15%). Everything I've read indicates heavier tongue within that range will tow with less sway.
Having said all that, if you manage the weight, dial in your WDH and check it on the CAT scales, watch the weather; you can probably make that work.
Enjoy the camping and stay safe.

That is probably to much trailer for the D. Could it do it, yes, probably. Can you do it safely, not as likely. Like mentioned that is a lot of area to be dragging behind you, even with a good WDH you are really going to be feeling it. Also like mentioned you can't really look at just the dry weight, you have to look at what you are going to be loaded with.

We are at 30' total length with ours and I really wouldn't want much more length, especially another 4'.

I tow a 33' Keystone Passport. That measurement is from center of hitch to rear bumper. I only tow around the flat plains of Indiana but I have zero sway issues and am using a Reese Dual Cam Sway Control. That being said a lot of that has to do with the Keystone load equalization spread axle system which the Premier has as well. They are much wider and require extended wheel chocks when parked. I'm actually looking at switching to a Premier myself except waiting for the new 19 models which has a gray exterior and a white cabinet interior.

The Rv dealer is going to let us test pull the bullet 29bhpr let's see what happens will post back tonight
Wow, that's great. If there is a CAT scale close by, it would be worth the $11 to get it weighed during the test drive so you know exactly what your starting point is. Good luck.
Do you already have a brake controller installed? We had the brake controller installed and WDH setup by the dealer when we picked our TT up. First time towing for me, I pulled the TT 200 yards to a stop sign and the TT almost pushed me through it. Cranked the brake controller up a little higher and everything was good.

Will test drive did not heppen its just to big little worried of the lenght. So we decided on the Bullet 277bhs 2 foot shorter in length and 6 inches shorter in height and about 500# less in weight so we pickup Saturday. More information coming

Hay mesoavery. How is weight on the DD any side wind issues any pictures
Thanks Tom
Sorry, I never took any pics. We went all over Indiana including a fun trip to the Dunes at Lake Michigan. Honestly, with the 5.7 Hemi its easy to forget its back there. It just wants to go. Mine has a dry weight of 5,220lbs and I never tow with water. I never experienced trailer sway with the wide trailer axel. I have felt the DD be pushed before when towing in very strong winds but never to the point of white knuckle driving. Just make sure you have it setup correctly so that the trailer and DD are near perfectly level and get a good sway control and brake controller.
