I haven't seen this model on the forum, and was wondering if anyone can confirm that it sits flush inside the OEM spot. My Durango is 2016 limited v6

Best price found $144.95

OEM
best price $201-210 with plastic cover

Would go the cheaper way if it sits in the same spot

Thanks- Clay

based on the pic, I don't think it does.. it looks like it will end up below the bumper.
Mhmm maybe but in all the other after market designs they all have those arms above the tubing where it attaches to the frame on this one it looks like they are flush with the tubing on the side. Will do some calling tomorrow maybe someone at Draw-Tite or an installer might shed some light on it.

Something looks off though, compared to the geometry of the OEM kit..

Definitely need to find someone who has actually installed one..

Does your 2016 limited already have the removable hitch cover? that seems to be what they are showing in the install pix..

I noticed 2 things.

1. The left and right pieces on the aftermarket don't look as they fit inside the channel where you place the fin looking things. I remember the OEM one I installed fit into the holes where you take out the original bumper. The receiver then goes into that, which is then held in with 4 bolts, 2 on each side. The aftermarket one appears to be one that bolts on differently, could be wrong, but doesn't look like it would fit in where the old bumber comes out.

2. The aftermarket one doesn't have a cutout where your wiring would go. If you look on the OEM, it has a hole on the left side. That is where you put your trailer plugs for power coming from the truck. Again, maybe I missed something here too.

And like the tomk said, do you have a cutout already in your bumper? I would hate to see you get this and realize there isn't a cover to remove for the receiver.

Look at the install instructions; it goes in place of the stock removable crash bar just like the OEM.
However, I can see its a bit more involved installing as the factory tow bar uses the stock bolts...though you need 2 more where this is using carriage bolts that require wire to pull though. Also noted your 2. Factory has a built in spot for both a 7 and 4 way connector.

Both to me worth the little bit more coin for the Factory tow bar, but this one certainly looks to exit at the same factory spot.

Appreciate the help from all, my 2016 limited does have cover plate on rear bumper.

I think with what is said above I will go with the stock hitch. My frugalness of having to research everything for the best price led to a search of aftermarket bumpers and It is neat that someone has finally made a design that, (looks like) it fits in the same place as stock.

Will post pics after install with my extended angled cargo carrier from ROLA. I wanted the high mount hitch vs stock so my crap doesn't get burnt from tailpipe exhaust, and ground clearance. Of course it looks cleaner too ?.

Ya I failed to look at their install instructions, just based it off my experience when I installed the OEM receiver.

I would think using the factory bolts would be better, those things are honking big LOL! They also show a picture of dropping the spare tire and the exhaust hangers, maybe you need to do that for their receiver and the bolts. I didn't mess with either, I left them in place.

Aside from taking off the rear fasia, it is really easy to switch out the factory bumper with a receiver.

I have a 2014 SXT. I put that exact hitch on mine and it does fit with in the factory OEM cover. Had to slightly alter the bottom near where the clips are so that the chains can fit. But when the receiver is not in I can put the cover on and it looks stock.

I believe it's safe to say now from people confirming that the Draw Tite 76196 hitch does sit in same spot as stock it's just if someone thinks it's worth a $60 savings to get the aftermarket hitch. Plus the stock one I linked in post from seller comes with a hitch cover and free shipping no freight charge and no sales tax! For $201 mine is Arriving tomorrow!

Pretty neat I looked up my build sheet and my 2016 limited v6 has a rear load leveling shocks, and an oil cooler listed in build sheet, random huh? I guess maybe since it was an rental vehicle it was spec'd out that way. Pretty nice knowing that if I ever want to look at towing some real weight I just need to pick up a $100 hd radiator and and tranny cooler $40-60

Sometimes these hitch websites put up a generic hitch photo on the page, not necessarily the exact model that properly fits the vehicle in question. I wouldn't judge based on the website photo, I'd want to see it in person in comparison to the OEM.
