I call B.S or you went down hill the whole time.

15-16 seems to be everyone's average around 75-85mph highway driving. I highly doubt you're able to get 25% better mpg and be above the highly conservative EPA rating of 19. for all 1500 miles.
Maybe he drove 65mph

I don't really care about MPGs when it comes to daily driving. My commute to the train to go into work is fairly short.

But twice a year we make the 900 mile drive from VA to FL.

On a long steady highway 75-80 mph the whole way drive, what type of MPGs are you all seeing?
On my only long distance highway trip so far I got above 17mpg doing between 65-75 with an occasional burst over 80.

Well, call BS all you want...I set the ACC for 77 not 65...The majority of the highway speed limit was 75. WHY would I go 65 in a 75? Just sayin!. All highway like I said. I took a pic at one point when I burst up to 136mph. IT says 19.6 at the time with 3/4 tank of gas! Normally I don't take kindly to someone calling me a liar but in this case of ignorance, Ill let it slide!

OH HEY...look at that! I found my trip miles and averaged 20.6...keep in mind, I have been at my destination for the past 5 days driving in the city which has brought down my mpg's a bit but still showing 20.6....hmmmmm!

Don't know how I missed that. Thank you. Great detail information. I have no prob paying for premium, it it hurts on long drives. 21 mpg is excellent for the SRT.

Did you follow any type of break in procedure?
To answer your question...YES, I always follow the break in procedure. The book is very clear about the break in and with the exception of the first 7 miles that I have no idea about, I followed it to the letter.

I say the first 7 miles because thats what was on the ODO when I got it so I don't know what anyone did at the dealership.

I'm not calling you a liar but used b.s. sarcastically, and your photo does prove your point. However, your MPG is very unorthodox from every other 6.4l hemi motor I've seen. Even the 1000 lb lighter 392 challengers struggle to get that kind of MPG in highway driving. While MPGs due improve around 10k miles and you are at 9k, this is either a good sign that the platform loosens up and gets closer to the EPA specs or you may have a fuel system issue. You can be running lean but not far enough out of spec to trigger a CEL. that can easily account for 1-2 mpgs.

392 Chargers and Challengers will get very close to the same MPG highway as the 5.7L...well Auto Challenger 6.4L will. 6-speeds don't have the MDS Engine.
So no surprise at a steady 75 highway speed with MDS active that the SRT D will get close to the 5.7L D...and that's with 3.70 gears too. If they had 3.09's I bet it would get better FE.

Have you calculated your mileage by hand? You know, fill it up, run it, fill it up again and do the math? I fill up every time, and record mileage and fuel used, and in four years and 122K miles, I have found that the MPG shown on the EVIC is consistently a couple of MPG higher than what I calculate.

X2

I always do that too, and have found the evic to be a inaccurate when calculating mpg. This is my 4th Dodge with it, and all 4 have been off.

Thats a good question...and yes I have. Each tank I compute the mpg and I have found that the computer is a bit different about .6 to .9 mpg's. That pic was after I have been city driving a while at my destination and I have a HUGE lead foot when it comes to that beast so when I had arrived after this trip, it was at 21.5 mpg. So in essence, I was probably getting IRL around 20mpg Highway

When I am travelling over such long distances as I often do...I set the ACC and try to get the best mpg's I can.

Good Saturday everyone,
Did a 200 mile or so trip. Did 26-27 in my R/T doing 65. Temp was mid to upper 70s, altitude from 4800 to 2800. Use no ethanol premium. The no ethanol in my Jeep Commander with the 5.7 gave me 22 mpg.

I just put a little over 500 miles of mostly mixed highway miles 250 in auto/eco and got 16 mph...same trip back in sport...15.6...so eco and 4 cylinder mode isn't going to put my kids thru college.

I've seen a 1 mpg difference between the two modes in shorter trips. However, I'm not disputing your point about economics...lol
I'll use my custom mode (a mix of track and sport settings) when I hit the curves and when I want to hear that exhaust during upshifts. Just a totally different animal.
