While changing my oil today, I found two leaks that don't look like they'll be easy to fix. One is off the power steering rack, and the other is where the tranny meets the engine block. Am I incorrect in guessing the only way to fix these is to replace the rack and pull the tranny?

Lean waaaaay over the fender and look to see if you can peek at the top of the bell housing, is it oily? while your leanin, check the valve cover gaskets, are they dry? you'll definitely want to confirm the leak isn't comming from the topside somewhere first, as if its the rear main, you'll need to unmarry the tranny from the motor to fix it. It'd be a BIG bummer to find the inside of the tranny dry after you pull the sucker out!!

The 4.7 has great valve cover gasket setups but just check to make sure they're snug?don't Kill them but make sure they're not loss

Hair-son for your rack leak, if your lines are tight (within torque values) then you might think about trying some stop leak. I had a drip from my rack in the spring and fixed it by siphoning out the fluid reservoir and adding Lucas to it (C-Tire.) I kept an eye on the level and topped it up when required - leak was gone in a couple of days and has yet to return. Purchased 2 bottles and still have about half left in the second one. Did you check your valve covers?
