I have a 5.2 D that's a dog compared to my brother's 99 Grand Cherokke with the 5.9. I have some extra cash so what should I get. the most bang for the buck. I have a Flowmaster Super 44 coming in. What next?

Question on is how much are you looking to gain and how much are you looking to spend? Answer this question and we'll be better able to guide you.

- Jet chip in Dodge circles doesn't work that well. Mopar PCM (hard to come by now), Superchips programmer or Hypertech programmer are worthwhile at around $400.

- Intake as in K&N or as in M1 manifold? K&N or other intake is wothwhile. M1 is expensive and you should have other things around it. TB, intake, computer. A cam can yield gains but is expensive when you factor in tear down time and cost. There are other things that may be more worthwhile.

- TB is worthwhile. It'll yield a small gain.

Super chips or Hypertech is my first thought, NOT JET!

Unfortunately you'll need to pick up an addittional 100 hp or so due to weight difference and cubic inch giveaway.
His Jeep with the 5.9 was Top Dog SUV in its day for power.
Start with a Fastman Tb, Nice Exhaust free flowing, and a Superchips but you may still come up short. I think you'll need some real nice Top End touches + a Custome Flash to do the trick(heads, cam, M1 intake)

For my party I have a friend that to a small preparation with a Hypertech on are D' I felt a difference in comparison with my D' that not the step.
I have simply a silent Magnaflow, a filter KN, and a new programming of the PCM :!:
I hope to have soon the Throttle Bodies Fastman :)
Once I'd have to install the TB I'd give you new ;)
If I arrive to have it

Denis.

Superchips should be availalble for Jeep. Now your that much behind.

The problem with your question is that you'll get improved performance from all (but the Jet Chip) in combination with the others. A TB, manifold, Cam, Exhaust and PCM Flash from B&G will combine to give more than just the base numbers. They all work together as a group, but not as well singularly, although you'll notice some gain with each addition. Each one is a stepping stone to the complete package.

If you plan on the future mods of TB,intake, and cam, then don't waist your money on the programmer.

I did the bolt-ons, then the programmer, and got nothing except a higher gas bill to get rid of the ping.

Do the bolt-on's on stages.
CAI,TB,Intake,Headers,B&G Flash

I think you'll get better results this way

Do what Race D did exactly and you'll have a pretty quick D :cheesy:

Talk to the Fastman.
He's one of the site supporters, and very good to work with.

M-1 intake would be the way to go, and I think most everyone is running his TB that has changed over.
You can also do roller rockers instead of going with the cam swap, unless you're looking for bigger gains.

Rockers are easy to do. For the cam you may have to take off the top end but there are people who have slid it in. At a minimum that means taking off the front cover, water pump, radiator etc. That's a bit more work that 10 bolts to remove the valve cover. Dan recommend to me the M1 with the 1.7 rockers. I was one of the first he did this way and recommends it.

so would it be smart to get the intake and cam. then the TB and cia. no sense in ripping off the TB and cia when gettin ghte new intake and cam.

also what's a good intake and cam.
1. It doesn't matter. Whenever you install an intake and cam the TB and whatever intake (stock/cai) has to come off and that's the easy part of the job.

2. There really is only one bolt on intake and that's the M1. There's a modified stock intake (not worth much) and a modifed Edlelbrock (expensive) by Huges.

3. You didn't answer my first question on how much power you want and how much you're looking to spend. TB, M1, CAI and you're up close to 1500 for parts if you're doing it yourself. With the M1 because it make more top end, you're going to need to raise the shift point so add another few hundred for the computer. Cam will cost a lot more for the work.

I have pretty much the normal basic stuff which is around 60 hp over stock. You could change some of the the parts and get a little more.

Depends on the cam and sound doesn't equal HP. Sure you can add a cam that lopes and burbles but unless it's right for the application, it may make your truck a dog. "enough to smoke 20's" isn't a useable parameter. HOW MUCH DO YOU HAVE TO SPEND. Well in 2wd I can't smoke 20's so you'll need a lot more. You're talking heads, blower etc. $$$$ and while you're at it likely building up the engine.

how much I have to spend it really not the question. I plan on over a period of time sinking money into it so 1500 or more I would say. is it worth trying to make power out of a 5.2 or should I find a 5.9 in the boneyard and build that up? will the current 5.2 tranny still work?

Per my other post, I indicated what 1500 will buy. That'll be maybe 40-45 hp
