It's difficult to find, is there any HP data from any of these aftermarket exhaust systems? I would assume there's gotta be something to show an increase in HP.
With all the electronic controls in these cars now, I doubt there is much (if any) real HP gains from even the most expensive exhaust system. Ditto CAI's and throttle body spacer
There may be a little (10 - 20HP, less for just an axle back), but realistically you aren't going to realize any noticeable change with a 20 HP bump in a 360HP vehicle.

To get a meaningful bump in HP, you need a cat-back exhaust, CAI + cracked PCM and a tuner.

Are you stating you would gain 20hp from just an axle back? That seems kinda of high and 20hp is a good bump considering you will see 13-16 hp at the wheels!! The suitcase is still robbing you so there is zero difference in exhaust output flow, you’re simply just changing some sound. Getting rid of the mid suitcase and putting in some better mufflers will improve flow, and you’re still more than likely not seeing 20hp, but your chances are higher!!

I agree with most of what MikeD1 says except for 1 distinct difference. No matter what tune you have, a TB spacer is going to be worthless unless it’s being used to spray something like nitrous or water/methanol. Adding 1/4” of aluminum behind the TB will do absolutely nothing in a modern fuel injected engine other than lighten your wallet faster. #weightreductionbruh

I agree 100% with your TB statement - they are basically worthless, even with a tune. I've seen actual dyno tests where a guy (who owned a performance shop & had a dyno) installed all the available spacers back-2-back on a V8 Titan and dynoed each. There was zero difference between stock and any of the spacers.

No, if you read what I wrote I said you might get 10 - 20 hp out of a good cat-back system but an axle back would provide less. I would venture a guess that they produce zero gains or so little it's practically immeasurable. I've seen axle back co's make vague statements about increased HP, but don't recall seeing anyone with the nads to actually post #'s !

I put the Blastin Bob's on mine with zero illusion there would be any HP gains, it was all about getting the sound I wanted :)

In order to make any appreciable gain, the air would have to zoom past through this magic spacer, collect in the intake manifold internal chamber, make the greater than 90* turn up into the individual intake runner that turns an additional 180* to reach the combustion chamber where it is THEN mixed with a specifically metered amount of fuel coming out of the injectors that is scaled to manifold pressure and not airflow speed at the TB.....also AFR, but whatever. No, TB spacers are NOT going to make power. LOL

Yep, I agree. The factory exhaust flows very well for basic bolt-ons but the sound isn't exactly what some owners want and THAT is where the aftermarket comes in. Any power gains would come more from retuning the vehicle when the exhaust gets installed. Then the gains would come from the tune and not from the exhaust pipe or mufflers.

Cmon, everybody knows a CAI and exhaust add like 70hp and about 30% better fuel economy! Add some “NOS” stickers (at least 10hp each) and you’re pushing close to 100 additional HP!!!

Ok, yea, my bad. I just re-read it and it makes complete sense. Axle backs are bogus and a waste time and effort let alone the money.

^^ Looks good!

I’m sitting at the exhaust shop right getting the suitcase muffler chopped off. Once summer arrives, I’ll get a Corsa system ordered.

All I can say is HOLY F*** after leaving the exhaust shop. Sounds normal at low speeds but when you step on it the bark is crazy! The idle sounds kinda weird too. Not sure the wife is going to like it. I haven't told her what I did so we'll see her response after she drives it next. If she hates it, Corsa will be coming sooner than later.
