Ok, so there's been lots of people doing an electric conversion of the clutch fan on the Gen 1's.

Though I've been thinking of a variation on this theme? what about swapping the clutch fan for the newer plastic fans on the 4.7L? Or even a 3.7L's fan which I believe is smaller than the 4.7. Thoughts? I know it won't be as much of a gain as the electrical fan, not that the whole conversion is much of a gain to begin with but whatever.

The New 4.7 has a plastic Blade Clutch Fan do show a pic!

I wonder how it'd fit in the Gen 1 Shroud

I don't know but given the limited expenditures for unnecessary automotive changes, they probably used actual fans to make the molds for the plastic molding machines. ;) J/K I kinda doubt that they changed the design much if at all from the metallic ones. Maybe more blades?

It defineteely has more blades from what I see in the pic
I bet the dRag coefficient has changed as well

I want to change to an electric fan. anyone has done a how to on this for a first gen? removing the old fan clutch assemby and which is the best electric to use. I see that there are no factory fit OEM type radiators and fans for the 4.7.

thanks for your time,

Try searching using the search button above. There's a lot of information here and even more on a wider variety of options on D-D.

I'm currently running a flex a lite 180 electric fan it fits right inside the factory shroud on my 4.7
I have the factory clutch fan removed as well.

Seems like a real different design

Special Tools? :?
I used a large adjustable wrench and a quick shot from a dead blow hammer.
Spun right off!

I'm sure given ample time you could design a 1 off custom.

B&M make a universal cooler for the auto tranny crowds. One model even has it's own fan, so that it can be mounted anywhere.
