A quick question. Just got mine and installed it but it seems to stick up quite a bit more than the original - given that the base mount is thicker that would make sense. But what I'm getting at is that it looks like it should slide down the geared "shaft" a lot more. Did any of you take the metal plate off the inside of the wiper arm to try and make it slide down more?

No alterations are needed.

If you want to hack it up, there are cheap enough to try, although it looks fine on all I've seen posted here. You get you choice of where to start the blade, level at the glass edge or already up a bit.

If you're referring to the difference in the 'canted angle' it has at the base, go back and reread my observations on that. Also the one on the threaded post and getting the nut on the small amount of it that's exposed.

No I wasn't referring to the angle of the dangle, I was mentioning that the gap between the hatch metal and the bottom of the wiper arm is huge and would have looked better if it masked some of the empty space which was covered before by the old one simply because it was thinner. I'll try and take some pics tomorrow as it's pouring at the moment to explain.

They look great, I have even been pushing it to a few local D owners around here. It was the first thing I did to mine. I'm just curious if I got mine on all the way, I didn't want to break anything by trying to force it. I'll take some side pics of it tomorrow.

There's a small gap, but the same as on the Gen2. The blade has a bend to it to get the contact flat on the glass. It sits at an angle so you need to push on it to make sure it's as flush as it's gonna get before you tighten the bolt. I recapped all that in the article I wrote last year.

One of the benefits is that it can be pulled away twice as far as the Gen1 stocker. My stock wiper would always get pulled to far and wipe crappy, never the same issue now with the Gen2 wiper.

Another, it looks much more modern. The pitted, old, thin, metal wiper just wasn't up to speed with the other modernizations we seem to do to our Ds. I'd never go back to the old one again.

Here's the only side shot I seem to have of the rear :) I'm a breast guy!

I was always stuck choosing between breasts, or thighs. It's a good thing they have the verity buckets. :cheesy:

I'll show you what I'm talking about when the sun comes up, it makes good contact with the window, except on the very far end. It seems like it might not be on all the way. I just didn't want to break anything by tightening that nut anymore.

The old one on mine wouldn't even touch the window. The spring was shot and completely usless, this is one of the best mods I think I have done to the looks of the D. Hat's off to you for doing the original legwork.

What you need is a picture facing up from below the wiper. From the side of course it looks good. I did push it in as far as it'd go before placing the nut on it. I'll put a tape measure on it tomorrow to show the gap.

Of course it's more modern looking, no one is disputing that just that unless I've missed something the fit doesn't look that great.

OK here's what I'm talking about. The gap is 7/8" and I was just wondering whether this is normal (as the gap wasn't as noticeable with the OEM ones) or not.

Mine is actually quite a bit worse than his. The cap actually hits the nut on mine, it sticks out nearly twice as far. I'd get get pics, but my D blew up today?

Not sure what happened, but something "belt-driven" nearly caught on fire and is roaring bad. It's stranded at a pep-boys nearly 45 mins away from home.

I guess we'll see what happened tomorrow. At least I broke down at a parts store?
