Probably have to lose the CD player... I put a Console Vault in the middle.

The DVD location is THE dumbest thing I've ever seen (I mean how they designed it to basically take up almost all the usable space in the center console). I can't believe how much room it takes up. You're only option is to use the glove box though it's pretty small too.

I have the cd player in the center console. I have the 8.4 touch screen. My old Durango (2012 sxt) haD the full console but the new one barely holds anything.
I really don’t like that CD player. I am really interested in swapping it out so I can also install the wireless charging option, but doing so is far more complicated than it would seem.

My car weapon is a dinosaur Titan Tiger.38 revolver, and that stays in the center console. You're right --- not much room for much else.
This old Titan is the most accurate pistol I own, even though it isn't worth much more than $100.
My carry weapon is a Glock G43. When driving, I usually take it out of my pocket and place it in the door compartment, where it's still accessible.
I've been kicking-around the idea of using the hidden "contraband box" the new Durangos have under the driver's seat for ammo. I have a copy of my insurance policy in there now, and a 2meter ham radio.

There is a box under the drivers seat? What year is yours?

Yeah. For what that entertainment system cost, combined with losing most of the center console, I would've just bought two iPads (or laptops or whatever), upgraded to unlimited data, and streamed content from my phone.

I carry any FNX 40 which is fairly large but the console may be the biggest design flaw of this vehicle. I may try to fabricate something....
Agreed. For as spacious as the Drango is, it sure is lacking in stash space.. But you gotta love that contraband box. ;)

Who gave the thread a one star rating?
I dunno, but I just countered it with all-stars.

Interesting. Too big a pain to get to if you have the Husky liners... which I guess is the point of being a smuggler bin.

The contraband box is cute but you have to move the seat up and then pry that thing up with a dang crow bar and then grab your heater. My old console swallowed my pistol. Maybe buy an old console and relocate the cd player :?

My plan is to do something like that. Really, I just want the double-decker arm rest storage so I can install the wireless charger option. It doesn’t look like anyone makes a QI pad for the spot ahead of the radio.

I've been looking at those pockets that fit in the gap between the seats and the center console.
Each maker calls them by different product names, but suffice to say, they're "crap catchers".
Prices and styles vary greatly, ranging from $5 to $35 US. But they all perform the same primary function --- that is, to catch run-away french fries (see pic).

But it might just double as a nifty "Glock-holder".

My point was to store ammo in, not my piece. Trying to get at my carry could get ugly in an "event", like you mentioned. Walmart of all places, has those french fry catchers for $11 online, but I have yet to brave the trip to our local wallyworld to see if they carry them, or something similar ---- Place is a ZOO!
