Hi guys,
A brief introduction? I'm Jamshed from dubai, UAE? it's a small country in the middle east.
I'm planning to get the 07 D? 4x4, 5.7 Hemi ltd? test drove the car, really impressive on road (didn't get a chance off road ).
Just one thing bothering me is the aircondition performance. It does get really hot here in the summers (upto 120F ).
Would really appreciate any feedback from present owners on the A/C and if the vehicle gets overheated.
I plan to use it for off roading aswell, mostly desert driving.

Thanx.

BTW? this forum's been really informative? keep it up!

Hi

I have 04 and I don't have issues with overheating?however I do have black car and it's not the best choice for middle east. It'll take some extra time to cool down in the summer?

it's fun to drive in the sand and I already envy you for having those nice dunes on hatta way

Rotors

Hey Mart, didn't you use to have Brembos?

What happened?

Bill

Rotors

Ahhhh, I see. I always thought Brembo was the stuff ya know?

I hope to hold off as long as I can on that mod.

Bill

there are 2 types of brembos
1 - OE replacement - same sh1t like original
2 - upgrade packages - good ones

For Durango olny the first option was available? and they lasted 5000km?

Well that's a waste in those BREMBOS

Hey there Jamshed, WELCOME to the DOC!

As for the AC performance and overheating the D, na, that doesn't happen. On the AC prep for warm conditions, I have read about a process you can do to your AC to make it even better. It involves wrapped the AC lines under the hood in neoprene I believe but the basic concept is to isolate the AC lines from the additional engine heat thus providing a great increase on the AC performance.

Again, welcome!

The early gen-1 D's could be marginal on AC performance? due to a number of things (undersized system, too little condenser airflow at idle, etc)? but the later gen-1's were fine in that respect, and I'd expect the gen-2 is fine as well?

color makes a big difference, though? light exterior and light interior will help a lot? wife's Lexus is dark-grey outside and black leather inside? man that thing is HOT when you get in on a sunny summer day?

The Gen 2 D's have a separate Fan for the Tranny cooler alongside the regular Rad and fan This increases airflow thru condenser and radiator thus increasing AC performance.
From what I have heard the Gen 2 can Freeze you out

thnx a lot guys? seems A/C isn't much of an issue then.
apart from that I've been really impressed with the car's drive and practicality.
will definitely keep posting if I do buy the D.

Mart, the hatta dunes are really great? been over them a couple of times with the prado.
Tell me Mart , how's the D been on the desert.

As I told you, I live in Bahrain:) so no BIG dunes to really test the capabilities like I used to do while living in UAE with my old cars.

Here are some shots made in Bahrain only dune:)

While going to serious offroading, you should remove the plastic below from pumper, I used it for pushing sand - and this isn't good sign
