The recommended tool is an SPX OTC 6509, you can google it, it's a higher quality version of the X-type AC tool.

There's a replacement hose 05016739AB, described in Customer Service Notice C-01. Although it's for a 2003, it appears to fit the 2000-2001 models, I have one on order right now. $23 from www.dodgeparts.com It you use the online order systems enter 5016739AB.

The line you need is $47 from dodgeparts.com.

I can't seem to find the right part on Dodgeparts.com. I found the one you're getting, but not sure where the other one is? Thanks for the help. If you can find it let me know, otherwise I'll email them, thanks again

Is this drain back thing something we should all be changing since we're going on multi years and higher mileage?

Yes, unless you want to change your new title to mine -- president of the DTC. :cheesy:

Can you point me to the correct link on Dodgeparts.com for the hose piece? I've looked through your posts and think its part number, but I'm not sure.

TIA!

Here's the part number from when I got my DC reman tranny. Remember this is for a 1998, YMMV.

52029303AC Tube-Oil Cooler

They don't list a price (N/C) I guess because they felt bad that's was the tube that caused the failure. :?

I just received the 5106739AB transmission hose, the one with the check valve. Although it's for the 2003, according to Customer Service Notification C01, it appears to identical to the line on my 2000. The length is the same the fittings are the same, the only thing I haven't verified is the direction of the check valve.

It does have an arrow and it points toward the radiator. I just haven't climbed underneath to check the original, it raining big time today, and the arrow isn't visible from above on my D.

I think it's interesting that the parts guys can't find a listing for the hose alone, saying it's no longer available, forcing people to but the entire assembly for $47+.

Look at my snaps from the FSM in this post:

http://durangoclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=37096&highlight=tranny*+hose#37096

It says the valve has a direction arrow on it.

Also look at this snap from the FSM:

So, you want to be on the pressure line and using the direction arrow on the check valve, point it towards the radiator.
Good Info Grease!
