I just received an email from Uconnect Access saying that they will be pushing an update over the air.
First, it's about time they did that. Second, does anyone know what the new update will contain?

I think it was mentioned here a month or two ago, that they were rolling it out in stages, rather than to all owners at the same time, but without much other information. A week or two ago, someone in one of the FB Durango groups mentioned his updated OTA, but I never heard what was included.

i have a feeling this is why my unit is half locked up right now..... dealer visit monday

hopped in one day and Nav had me in Texas (i live in iowa) and no radio or volume

My question is, How do we find out if we have the update? where do I go to find the version of U-connect my system has?

thanks
It will prompt you to do the update. You will know when you have it. It takes about an hour to do the update when car is on and not driving.

The car must stay on for the initial start of the update, ( about 15 to 20 minutes ) after which you can shut the car down and the update will continue, but not garaged. All prompts and directions are listed on the UConnect screen.
You also can drive.
My 2016 Challenger updated last week and I drove the entire time. Took about 45 minutes total.

I also recieved the notification the other day and let it do it's thing while I drove around. The thing is once you start the update you can't shut it down. Once the update has been downloaded you can shut down the truck to let it do it's install, that took a while prob a half hour or more. Not garaged has prob got to do with signal strength so it can do the update.

Mine updated Thursday evening. Must say I am under-impressed. The update added 2 icons to the bottom of the screen, one of which is to blank the screen.....umm...we already had a hard button for that. Does not appear to be a way to remove the new buttons on the bottom row, but in the "app screen" you can add buttons to the bottom row, I suppose as a shortcut of sorts. Other changes noted are that if you do a reboot (hold volume + tune for about 7 seconds) you no longer have to reset the time afterwards. Playing mp3 from a usb drive seems to have some new issues. Silence between tracks is sometimes 30 seconds where it was 1-2 seconds. Songs will sometimes just stop, for several seconds, then start back up where they left off. Selecting an options button, "climate" for example, seems to take several times as long as it used to do display the selected screen. After in the climate screen, it might take 2-3 presses of a on screen button to get it to take action, even though the button high lights when touched, indicating the screen recognized the touch, and after these 2-3 touches, it may take a few more seconds longer to actually perform the requested action. And sometimes, the mp3 playing will jump, skip, or pause while the command is being performed. None of these were noted on the factory loaded software. With all that said, it could be the software update is still configuring itself, so these issues may work out over time.
Just my observations.
The update download was triggered by putting the truck in park. Each time Thursday I made a stop and put it in park, the update message would pop up on the screen. I kept telling it later, and finally let it update when I got home. The actual download took about 20 minutes, then about 10 minutes more while it did some initial setup before I could shut the engine off.

Not garaged? What does being in or out of a garage have to do with a software update?
I might be wrong on that. Initially the car must have a clear view to allow the OTA signal reception. I guess after it downloads, and it tells you the car can be shut off, it's wouldn't matter. But I don't know.
Mine updated yesterday. Drove during the initial download and then parked in my driveway and shut the car down, after it said I could.
Can't say what it changed, nor do I care. Everything worked fine before. These are just like any other computerized updates, and unless you use every feature, all the time, you'll never know everything that was changed.

I know I'm late to this post....BUT mine updated this weekend. I too am very disappointed in the update. For ONE, it resets ALL your previously saved settings back to factory. ALL Audio settings, ALL NAV Favorites were erased, ALL Music Favorites erased, ALL channel presets erased, ALL general settings. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. And as OCD as I am, it drove my crazy as it updated as I we drove to Virginia this weekend.
As mentioned above, the ICONS on the screen also were reset. You are able to drag and drop what you need to see, so the "Screen OFF" icon can be replaced with something else.

I'm not sure if there is a way to save all these items, at least the NAV favorites, so that the folks who have NOT yet updated their system can avoid this frustration?

My OTA update blew out the NAV system on my 2014 Citadel. I called Dodge six times this week and after being instructed to re-calibrate - driving in an open parking lot in a tight circle five times and then shutting off the car and opening the driver door for 2 minutes - the NAV recognized what direction I was driving - an improvement, but still didn't load in my location. Previously I did several resets with Dodge's assistance. Yesterday my new case manager sent me off to the dealer and they couldn't fix it either. The dealer is recommending a new radio to Dodge. I rave about this car to everyone. It's a great multi-functional vehicle. It serves as a customer transport - we sell real estate - and we got the towing package to haul our Winnebago trailer on camping trips. I sincerely hope that Dodge does the right thing and has the dealer install a new radio. I was told that it costs $2000, more than my laptop.

Wish you luck. My Hands Free has become intermittent. Dealer says they are not allowed to install a "new" radio, only reman'd units unless FCA gives the approval. So far, I'm on my 4th radio in the last 4 weeks. Original factory radio, plus 3 reman replacements. Last reman was installed on Saturday, on Sunday the issue presented itself again. Original radio was having the issue before it received the OTA update, was hoping the update would cure it, but did not. All 3 of the replacements already had the update installed.

Maybe i should not complain that I have not gotten the update yet...

I'm 2 weeks now without a nav system. Spent another hour and a half yelling at non responsive reps and finally demanded a supervisor. The case manager assigned to me went incommunicado after promising to call and the local dealer did not return calls either, but he probably had no news to report back. I asked for a new case manager and the supervisor has promised to call tomorrow with an update. I'm not feeling hopeful. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I did find out today that if you call and demand a supervisor they have to comply. I seriously only get irate as a last resort. It's not my style. I share the demand a supervisor tip in case anyone else has issues with the rollout. I've been told by the dealer I need a new radio.

semi-OT, but if 4 radios all have the SAME problem, I'm guessing the problem isn't the radio.

Mine updated during my commute this morning. Finally finished installing about 5 minutes from work so I haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet. So far, it has retained my audio presets. It seems a bit slower to switch screens/functions but maybe it's because I just finished updating. The apps screen is different. They seem to have apps for more features and they can be positioned on the bottom "bar" for quicker access. Not sure I care but for drivers who need regular, frequent access to things like the rear headrest fold, this is for you. The first thing I did was dive into the Nav settings to see if they addressed one (minor) gripe I've had with Uconnect and they haven't. You can still select your vehicle icon for the nav screen as long as your vehicle isn't a Durango. How hard would it be for them to upload 16-bit image of a Durango like they do for all the other FCA cars. There's a 200 in there. There's a Viper in there. Why not a Durango?
