Hey guys! I've been reading on this thread
Front Mopar Splash Guards & the R/T
and I finally decided to get the Husky liners. Like others here, I'm concerned about the snow, dirt, and rocks scratching my rocker panels. Definitely got a lot of info from here.
It was an easy install. Took me about an hour to install all 4.
First I cleaned the application areas thoroughly.
Then I placed protective film on the areas where the splash guards would be in contact with the rocker panels. I just wanted some sort of protection against chaffing like other owners have discussed.
After that, I just followed instructions that came with the splash guards. They're pretty simple.
For the front, there's plenty of room when the front wheels are turned.
Just have to remove 2 push pins, pull the liner, and put U-clips where the push pins were previously in.
The instructions called for drilling a hole to mount a 3rd screw. I didn't want to drill into my rocker panel unless it's really necessary. So I skipped that part and mounted with 2 screws. It seems stable enough to me. I will keep monitoring and update.
For the rear splash guards, I just used a ratchet and 5/16 socket and a philips bit attachment to work into the small space.
There's one tricky thing with the rear. On the top mount, it didn't have a push pin. Instead it had a weird pin that seemed non-reusable (think the concept of a ziptie). I couldn't figure how to remove it so I just destroyed it to get it out. But no worries, you're gonna replace it with a provided screw anyway. I might be wrong with the pin, so I apologize in advance.
Here's the location of the weird pin.
And after removal..
After all that's done, just mount the splash guard with original 5/16 screw on the bottom and a provided screw for the top mount. And don't forget the U clips.
And that's it! I find that they are relatively easy to remove if need be. I know there are some that aren't fans of the look. After a while, I've grown into it and now I don't mind it as much. They serve a good purpose anyway so I'm happy with it ☺
I'm also not sure if there are any differences between the Rallye and the R/T, but these fit my Rallye very well.
Thanks for reading and sorry this is a lengthy post. Hope you guys enjoyed it and let us know what you think!
Peace!✌
