Hello Fellow Durango Owners,
I'm not out but not in either with the Shift Knob. My only issue with it is that fact I don't know what to do with my right hand. I usually rest it on the shifter. Now i find myself reaching for it a lot and it's not there LOL.
So far I have used my right leg with my elbow on the arm rest, I have hung my hand down off the arm rest, not really into that position and I've put my arm back further then usual so my hand just makes it to the edge of the arm rest.
I'm thinking that a after market Cup holder T shifter thing should be made if it hasn't been already, this was you can use the rear cop holder and put a simulated Shifter looking thing in there that you can use to rest your hand for those of us that drive with our left hand and hold onto a shifter with our right.

Any thoughts on this?

Yeah, i still try to "start" mine by slapping the column where the ignition was in my '02 Ram, and trying to shift into reverse by grabbing air that used to contain the column-mounted shifter lol.

I rest my elbow on my armrest and my knuckles on my leg, just like I do with my truck. Not having something there never seemed like much of a big deal to me, and before the Truck I drove an Accord with a t shifter to rest my hand on. Even then I didn't rest it there because hitting a bump or something could bump the shifter

It's funny you brought that up! I was just telling the wife the other day I miss having a shifter to rest my hand on.

I rest mine on my wife's boo...sorry, just kidding. I rest my hand on the shift knob. I miss having a large middle arm rest. My 03 Ram had the best center console, you could row through the gears without taking your arm off the console. Mind you that was after I installed the short throw shifter.

i find myself looking for a new position to put my hand all the time and often find myself sitting in some very strange positions, ive also have reached for the missing shifter trying to put it in gear, i find that when im in tight spots that require a few shifts from reverse to drive i screw up which way to turn the knob, and there has been a few occasions where i turned the volume knob on the radio to put it in park. ive only had my 17 gt for a few weeks now and im sure i will get used to it but overall i like the shift knob

I am variable. Whatever fits the mood of driving that day...

I put it on the shift handle where it feels at home :)

If I tried that, I'd draw back a nub. ;)

Hail yeah! I MISS that center console in my Ram too, and used it the same way -- at least, when my min pins weren't riding shotgun. They LOVED being able to ride there and see a nearly 360 degree panorama.

same here bud, it drove me crazy at first! I have no complaints about the rotary shifter OTHER than this problem. For me, I usually have a yeti water bottle in the cupholder, so I rest it on that.

Thats exactly where I'm at with it. I love my R/T but this is the only thing that bothers me about it. I want to make my own hand rest and have it come out of the cup holder. I really wanted to wait out to the 18's where you but my lease on my last Vehicle ran out and the 18's are no where to be seen yet. I heard they put a normal T shifter back in for many reasons including the accidents that happened.

I'm gonna see if I can have something fabricated and maybe offer it to others who need it.
