I have a 2016 R/T, loaded, including adaptive cruise control. What are the opinions of those that have it? Do you use it?
I really like using ACC on the open road and the "tractor-beam" effect, where it perfectly tracks the car in front. Using it in the city has some undesirable results due to rude drivers and close quarters. Even on the closest "following" setting, the distance to the car in front, while although the safest distance, allows other drivers to jump in front of me. When this happens, the ACC applies the brakes hard in an overreaction and is quite alarming and generates a feeling of loss-of-control.
I've noticed the radar beam is VERY narrow, which is good, but the D speeds up, then slows back down, when changing lanes as the beam hits the gap between cars in front.
Are there other aspects that I am not aware of? What are your impressions of the ACC?
