The wife was returning from an overnight work trip in our new R/T today and decided to take it through the car wash. She paid the attendant and pulled forward as instructed to the point where the guy told her "Neutral...no brakes." She put it in neutral and waited for the metal tire roller to move the rig through the car wash. Nope! The rig wouldn't budge. :-? The guy asked her if she had it in neutral and the parking brake off to which she replied yes to both. Rig wouldn't budge. This is where the other folks in line became unhappy. They all (6 of them) had to back out to allow my wife to exit the car wash with her tail between her legs. She came home and told me about it. Not happy. The only thing I could figure out was that maybe the active braking system must have determined the car wash apparatus was something to avoid and applied the brakes while in neutral. I couldn't believe that the active braking system would work in neutral but, evidently it does. We went together back to the car wash with the blue tape still on the rear wiper. That gave the new attendant pause until I explained the previous experience. I turned off the active braking system and went through the car wash without incident. With that the wife said with a smirk on her face "F-ing technology". I held laughter until we got home and she went in the house. All is well and our black beauty is clean and tucked away for the night. FYI...this is not in the owner's manual...at least I could not find it even using the PDF and searching electronically.

I have the Tech package and go through car washes all the time in neutral. Did you try to go through before you deactivated it? If yes, there's something wrong with the car. If not then I'm betting that she got confused and put it into Park and doesn't want to admit it. I hate the knob shifter cause every now and then I put it the wrong gear. It happens and I'd be embarrassed to admit it too if I caused that much trouble to others.

Am I the only one that cringed at the thought of those nasty slappers and rollers beating on that black beauty? Good tip I guess, but yikes to the whole thing
It depends upon the "slappers". While I agree that the robo washes used to destroy a good paint job, two things are now different.
1, The modern (newer thn '08) robo washers have much better sensing/washing tech than they used to.
2, Emphasis on the word, "GOOD".. The paint job on some 2017's is likely the worst application I've ever seen from an auto production plant when it comes to "orange peel". Mine is really bad on the left-rear side -- so I figure it could stand a little "sanding" ;) JK there, but I'm not concerned at all with the car wash I take my baby to, outside of how much they charge.

The orange peel is bad, I agree, but almost every new vehicle I've seen lately has the same look for whatever reason. As far as the car wash is concerned, I've just had really really bad experience with them. If I use a car wash now, it must be a touch free. I couldn't resist busting your chops about it :).

A. She did not have the car in park or drive. It was in neutral...verified by the car wash attendant.
B. If read that the touch less car washes use an additive to their water (in addition to soap) to aid in washing sans brushes.
C. We've used the same exact car wash a couple weeks ago in the same rig with no problem. Could have been due to the proximity of the car in front of her where previously there was no car in the wash ahead of her.

I'm tempted to try again without disengaging the active braking system to see what happens but I don't care to press it.

Here is what I think happened since my wife has done this with her jeep.
When she pulled up and just at the right moment the car was still in Drive and she breached the door while moving it to neutral...too late the ebrake locks up as soon as handle is slightly pulled. To fix you need to put it in park and disengage parking brake and or put it in park and shut it down and restart. Its just that right at that moment deal
