First time Durango buyer

So I am looking for a used Durango. I'm really looking to get one after the refresh (2014+) and the Citadel trim with as many options as I can get, but I'm also not looking to spend anymore than around 35-36k. So this limits me to pretty much the 14-15 model years. I have heard that the 14 models had problems with the 8 speeds, and im a little concerned with that. any 14 owners have trans issues to speak of?

Also, I think I'm going to buy from carmax, and have heard bad things about carmax over charging people by 1-5k. However, almost every durango citadel on their site right now seems well priced. anybody have a carmax experince they would like to share?

looking for some insight on my situation, and am wondering if im making the right choice by going to carmax. Well-optioned durangos at my local dealers are almost always over-priced, so im trying to avoid that alltogether.

When I was looking to buy (which was only 2 weeks ago). I found CarMax to be way overpriced. They had a 14 limited with the hemi and sunroof and second row captain's (the three main features I wanted) with 38k miles listed for $31,999. I ended up buying the same exact vehicle with 28k miles for $25.8. On top of that, they kept sending me dozens of emails over the last two weeks basically begging me to come in and look again even though they knew I purchased something else.

Hi and welcome to the group. I just recently bought the 13 citadel. got it for a steal. I'm not a fan of carmax. The price is the price and thats it. I got my D from a honda dealer. It had been sitting a while and they were getting ready to send it off to auction. Apparently V* american muscle and suv do not sell well on foreign car dealerships. Keep an eye out for that. Ask them how long its been on the lot. If they arent willing to tell you they aren't worth dealing with.

I basically got my truck for just under what they took it on trade for.
