so I saw Durango with side window deflectors and loved how it looked. So I bought a set, figured I'd get the Mopar ones. Well I get them and there really isn't any pictures with the instructions but it looks like the entire piece goes over the frame of the door instead of being tucked inside the frame. So it seems to go over the paint Which I don't want. I haven't installed them yet. Anyone have the mopar ones that can confirm?

Installed the in-channel weathertech's a couple of weeks ago. The rear sit fine with the tape on them to keep them solid, but the front's just kind of float in there, no tape to keep them in place. They don't move while driving or anything, but you can wiggle them around quite a bit if you try. Really wish they put the double sided tape on the front's as well.

Its all personal preference. I don't mind the double sided tape, never had an issue on 3 different vehicles over 10 years. I personally wouldn't go with the in channel ones...as they can stretch out the part that touches the glass (or so I read).

Get what you want...its your Durango and you have to love the look!

I have the in channel oes on my Durango, and previously had them on my Trailblazer for 11 years with no issues. Both sets were Weathertech.

It is all personal preference, but I think it's a cleaner look. .

It sounds like the Mopar product is more of an over the door style.

I have had the vent visor type that stick to the outside of the window frame in the past. Easy install', easy removal with a heat gun, worked just fine. Both installs where on dark vehicles so it want that noticeable. I just ordered the in channel weathertech ones for my 13, just because my wife works at Grainger and I get 50% off.

Where did you read that it stretches out the part that touches the glass? Now that's a first. I'm selling these by the way if anyone's interested.

Amazon reviews for the most part...multiple different models. Some vehicle manufacturers have sensors that won't allow the windows to roll all the way up with any tension that these types of shades create. Others require clips that can cause problems, others stretch the inside part of the window when the vent shade is in the channel for months and years.

Again...its personal preference. I've never had any issues with the double sided tape type. Use what you want though...its all about the look you want and what you've had good luck with.
