Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone has successfully installed a plug and play hid kit that didn't involved any modification to the dust covers or any wires. I currently have a 2017 DD GT with decent lights right now. I am looking for a whiter and brighter light than I have. I just want a kit that will involve to be installed easily without any major mods to the truck. I understand I will be a canbus or anti-flicker module to make sure the computer doesn't bring up any error messages. Can anyone suggest a product of this nature that I have just described? Pictures would also be nice!

Thanks a bunch!

I wondered the same thing but in my case the answer was no. I ended up putting the upgrade on hold until the weather got warmer. Save yourself the trouble and time, do what steps are recommended. I will be doing my upgrade the next full weekend my wife has off just in case I'm unsuccessful completing everything in one day, her car will be available.

Ok so I just attempted to install a plug and play HiD kit in my 2016 DD and was UN-successful. No mater which way installed the plugs. I thought maybe it was the bulbs but I even tried the spare set of bulbs i bought and no good. I'm gonna try the install again tomorrow with the relay harness and let you guys know how it goes. On 2014+ models there is no high and low. The bulb has one single output, it uses a shield to "switch" between high and low. Shield up is low beam, shield down is high beam.... What kit did you buy?

You'll have to modify the dust covers.... I suggest Morimoto stuff from The retrofit source. Little pricey but it will work perfectly with your truck

How would I go about modifying the dust cover to fit the hid kit? Am I drilling a hole to fit the wires through? Any guidance is appreciated! Also I was looking at the morimoto kit since its high quality. Finally, would anyone know the part number for the dust covers? I want to purchase a second pair since my car is a lease and when I give it back I'll be restoring the factory headlights and covers. I can't find a part number anywhere online.

Yep, just drill a hole. Check out hollander autoparts and look for a wrecked 3rd gen, they might not list the parts specifically but if you call they'll k ow what you're looking for

I found a OEM HID kit on the retrofitsource website. Do you think this is possible to use with my halogen projector housing on my GT model? I don't see why not, the wiring all looks the same.

I don't think so, I believe the ballast needs a goofy plug, not the normal one for a halogen like you have now. Got a link to the kit?

Denso ballast is good, OEM grade, I'd go for the amp kit with the morimoto 5500k bulbs

I was thinking of going with 4500k because I like the look of OEM HID better with a 55w ballast. Also I found replacement dust covers for the headlights on the mopar website but it wasn't easy. Had to do a lot of digging and they want $20 a piece!!!!
